ok so i just got the lee pro 1000 for .223 i cant get the sizing die set right or the bullet seating/crimp die to hold the bullet tight enough (bullets still have a little wiggle in them) and im seating it in the middle of the cannalure so well i need help!!! i am new to this forum being a member however this is the first sight i come to whenever i have a problem. i tried searching but i couldnt find anything so could someone please help?? oh and after i sized and set the bullet since im not trying to waste powder or primers im just trying to get the dies set up properly. i loaded a shell into my ar and well the case did not want to come out at all but when i put a factory loaded shell in (several shells) they come out every time i pull the bolt. please help im severly lost :banghead:

Put the sizeing die only in with the ram all the way up turn it in until it stops on the shell carrer + another 1/4 turn. Size a case & see if it fits your chamber. Then adjust all the other dies to the FL die. I wouldn't crimp & I would seat just before or past the cannaulure. If you do crimp there it shouldn't hurt to have a wiggle.

Try that then post back before looking for die problems.

Follow kingmt's directions first.

Now if your bullet is still too loose, then the neck sizing ball is the wrong one.
It's too big.

I got the bullets to seat!! But shells still do not want to cycle through my ar15 does that mean the headspace is off?? Should I get a headspace gauge also should I be lubing the shells before I size them even with it being a progressive press

Check OAL

I've just started loading too. What OAL does your 'recipe' state to seat the bullets at? did you measure it?
On my 40S&W I measured a factory round and loaded mine the same length...they were the same bullet type so it worked out great. Mine cycle fine thru the weapon.

Post up your measurements and full recipe including types/brands so the real experts can assist. You won't be misled here!

Welcome to THR.

Did you trim the case to length?

After you deprime/full-length resize the case, you need to trim the case using a case length gauge/cutter. I use the Lee Zip Trim shown in this video and also chamfer the cut case neck - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70xRSxqNsRs

Then, as kingmt posted, test the resized case (no bullet/powder/primer) to see if it will chamber and extract. If it will chamber and extract, then load a round to see if it will chamber and extract.

Yes, I lube my rifle cases when I resize them regardless of press used.

You do not need case lube for resizing pistol cases when using Lee pistol resizing die with carbide sizing ring insert.

Your not getting th case all the way in the FL die. Lube befor you get a case stuck.

So if I lube the cases will I have to tumble the cases after sizing or can I load the cases??

You tumble your cases first....
Then lube them
Then resize them
then prime them
then expand ( if you expand this...)
then seat bullet and crimp

Make sure you OAL is correct as mentioned in your manual. You should have no problem most of the time.

I don't load .223 in the Pro I do it on a SS so I can't say for sure but if you use a wax lube & don't do the necks you might get by with it without sticking a case or cloging the powder drop.

I thought someone that loaded these this way would chim in by now.
