I borrowed a friends Lee 429-160 single cavity WC mold the other night. I cast about 50 boolits using a 1970s Lee 10 lbs bottom pour electric pot. I also cast about 50 358-158 SWC from a 1970s Lee double cavity mold. I was using well fluxed straight wheel weight material.
I was getting what looked like an incomplete pour (some rounded edges- not well defined) on the top of the boolits (bottom of mold), but the sprue cut bottoms were well defined. I experienced NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with the 358 pours. The mold was hot enough as I was casting them as fast as I could cut the sprue, drop the boolits, close the mould and get it back under the pot.
ANY IDEAS ON THIS ONE!

UPDATE: I poured again tonight. I refluxed ww with a candle and stepped the temp up from 5 to 6. I got a good burn off of fumes, so I guess it took all the flux it wanted. Anyway I got better results this time with the bottom of the mold coming out perfect! Flux or temp---not sure, but happy now!
