Well last weekends gun show was good to me! Setteled on a Smith sigma 9ve with the flashlight included. Got it for $380 out the door. Seemed good and then found the S&W $50 REBATE that includes 2 16 round mags. This sounds like a $100 deal to me. Other than a long strange trigger what is the dounside to these???? Kind of miss the recoil factor, I am used to a 629 with magnaport. Much better trigger, just goes empty too fast.

Those used to be junk, but Smith got their act together. This is the weapon Glock sued Smith over by the way. Now..except for the horrid trigger as you mentioned, they have gained a reputation for being quite reliable.

Me personally, I probably would have just ponied up for the M&P. I paid $399.99 for mine brand new. Either way, the 9ve should serve you well.

I used to own one. A good gun for the money. The trigger is a bit hard to get used to but it shot very good. The only reason I sold it is someone offered me more money for it than I paid.

congrats sounds like you got good deal and as long as you are happy with it that is all that matters. they are reliable and it will serve you well, the trigger is the only problem that i have ever had with em. but you can over come that with trigger time.

Well the wife seems to love it so far. She isn't too crazy with recoil. I noticed that the trigger is just strange after many revolvers. The rebate was hard to turn doun. So far it is fun to shootand as accurate as I am. Soda cans are fun at 75 feet. Not so sure it will be cheaper to shoot as we will just shoot more now. NO malfunctions with 125 rounds so far. Am on a hunt for a likable holster for me as it is the only carrable gun we have for now. The 629 is a bit much for the "on the toun " nights. Going dountown is like a freakshow everynight!

I dont know if there is a difference between the old and new ones but I know two guys who bought them and they were crap. One had a spring break and one had a pin break. And they were both having malfunctions constantly. That trigger is the most horrid thing I have ever seen. I personally will never own one.

Begrudgingly, for the money, it's probably ok. Mine was a 1st gen .40 that had all kinds of problems. Everyone says that they have fixed all the problems, but two things nag at me, if these things were so easy to fix, why didn't they do it before they released the first gen? This business is too competitive to be able to release one version, fix it, release the second version, and hope for the best. There are so many good pistols on the market in the same category, I don't ever see myself getting around to trying one again.

One of several things that went wrong with mine, the front sight fell out. Get Trijicons asafp.
