Good grief this thread rally took off dind't it? Alot more emotion than I was expecting.

I have a couple bubba specials. I bought them because there was something about them that appealed to me. They have character.

Not all guns have to be either shiny brand new or perfectly preserved historical specimens. Sometimes it's fun to have a shadtree custom model.

Never never cut them up. No way.

If there were a poll attached to this tread I would have to give Tuffest pic to markallen. Fun thread guys, very cool.

OK, I'll try to jump start this thread one more time with a tough gun.

Think it's a Model 28?

Think again. It's a Model 27-2 that was carried and used. Still tight, and still a tackdriver.

X, I'll see your 27-2 and raise a 1917 Smith made in '18 with a notch cut in the grip:what:. man I wish it could tell storys.Shirt's a bring back from the sand box complements of BIL the grunt.

Speaking for me, I like looking at guns with some wear and tear. It's kind of like looking at Stevie Ray Vaughan's #1 Strat or Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstein" in that they may be a beat up, but there is a beauty in them that no new guitar could ever hope to match by anything other than honest hard work and love. I see a lot of hard work, love and even some tough times in some of these guns, and I personally think that's kind of cool.

I like this thread, and I don't want to see it shut down.

XB, that's a great looking M-27. Lot's of character marks on it.

I much prefer guns that have been used for what they were intended and yet were well cared for.

Thanks for sharing the pics. :)

i do not have any tuff guns my all run and hide in the safe.
I am going to get one soon !!!

Here’s a tough one...tough to shoot! Even with all that Pachmayr rubber between the back strap and your hand, 44 Specials are pretty brutish out of this Target Bulldog.
I’ve owned it 20 plus years and it hasn’t seen much carry or use. There was a time when I needed to sell off my firearms and I kept it mainly because it wasn’t going to bring in much. So, until I was able to acquire other side arms, it stood the watch and on one occasion backed up a damn fine dog (miss you my friend and I’ll meet you at the trail head someday) when trouble came calling. Now my wife keeps it tucked away as her gun and we feed it 44 Russian to tame it down some.

What would you say if I told you that the "Pride and Joy" of over 25 years of gun collecting was this one?
This is the "Toughest" gun that I have.....bar none. Makes the Fitz pale in comparison.....

And to be fair, you are looking at another gun that has no intrinsic value....but ~ there are two kinds of value in guns.....

That's your Tunnels of Cu Chi gun isn't it?

Semi tough...

Carried every day ( but for rare exception ) for twenty years now.

Usually front Trouser Pocket...now-and-then, shoulder Holster...

This one is purty tuff.
Mdl58.jpg

It rode in a border patrol holster style for 13 years.
I was investigating a wreck in a blizzard and a car came out of the snow and hit me. I went over the top of the car and the Mdl 58 went flying over the guard rail and down the embankment on a overpass. I found it two days later in a snow drift.

It rode around in my pickup and in my saddle bags on the ranch for about 10 years before I finally retired it.

We were in some serious social encounters and lived through them. It has earned it's place of honor in my gun case.

I never had to shoot anything more than once to put it down.

This would be the last gun to go if I had to unload all I have, and it will go to my son.

Tough Wanna-be with 38 Spl +P Hollow Point

Maybe He will be Tougher when I load Him with .357 Magnum 158 gr ammo. This Model 608 Taurus (large frame) revolver is a handful, and I have large hands (lol). Been refering to Him alot as "Night Stand Buddy", I Think that has a nice ring to it.

Iggy

What a wonderful gun. Good honest wear, a ton of history and a faithful friend.

Your son will have a great family heirloom one day as will his.

Hi Iggy,

Very nice...

What Model S & W is it?

Hard to tell scale, to decide if it is a 10, a 13, or a 58...

Guillermo,
Thanks, That gun is very special to me.

Oyeboten,

It's a model 58. Cost me $81.00 brand new. I changed out the issue hammer and trigger and made my own grips back in the 60's

It is ironic, I destroyed the PC magna grips that came on it to get the hardware to make the ones that are on the gun.

Now those grips would be worth more than the gun.
:(

STAND BACK!!

Here's mine:

Yeah, I'm bad. That's one of my massive collection of 1895 Nagants, some homebrew ammo, and a Victorinox SAK - the 'Smurf' Farmer. That mighty 7-shooter in 7.62x38r came to my door with a holster, lanyard, screwdriver, and cleaning rod... such a deal!

I wonder what horror it has seen?
