I'm looking at a Sunshade for my Leupold VX-II Sunshade 3-9x40, and noticed a review on the 4" version- "The long length however cuts into the perspective at about 5 power and under." I'd rather go with the 4" instead of the 2.5". Is it true the 4" will be visible when zoomed out far? Also, I'm looking at bases and rings for mounting this scope on a Savage 10FP. What's the real advantage of steel bases versus aluminum? I'm sure the steel flexes less, but will it really make a difference on a 308 rifle? Any bases and rings (such as Leupold) you'd really recommend for this rifle?
