Like Glock?

not sure if I like them or not. I may one day have to break down and buy one to see what tall the hype is over. I wish I could try one out but out of all my friends who I shoot with, there are 0 glocks to be shot.
They are probably the best at what they are designed for and for that I almost have to buy one. Now, do I get another puny 9mm which is a proven caliber for glock or do I go with something a little more powerful?

I love both my Glocks (17 & 19). The low bore axis does indeed lend itself to accurate and comfortable shooting. My W. German 226 is also a nice gun, very accurate and well made, but I like the ergos and simplicity of the Glock better. No DA/SA to mess with, nothing to decock, and the slide lock is in the right place on a Glock (I hold high thumbs, and my Sig will, on occasion, not lock back on the last round :scrutiny: ).

Regarding Po-Po's and their Glocks: True, lots of PD's carry Glocks because Glock offers LEO's great deals on their guns. However, they choose Glocks because they're cheap AND good. The fact that Glocks can be so good at its price point sometimes irks those that paid more (sometimes considerably more) for the same level of goodness.

There are a lot of good handguns, but no one can deny, plausibly, that the Glock isn't an outstanding bit of weaponeering.

weaponeering - did you find this in Wikipedia?

Hmmm - I guess your right - I can't deny that the Glock isn't an outstanding bit of weaponeering... :neener:

Glock accuracy is not on a par with truly "outstanding" firearms, and their ergos leave something to be desired...

Glocks are good guns. But they're just another gun. I like the ones I've shot, but I like a lot of other guns too.

I do get a laugh at the "Glocks are ugly" crowd. To my eye they look about like every other semi-auto pistol.

Weapons + Engineering = Weaponeering. Clever! Careful though, you might send some running to their dictionaries in fear and confusion

 .

Glock 17C,23,22,31,21,27 and hopefully a 21SF

I love Glocks, they are not pretty, they may not fit in your hand, but they do work in the worst elements one can create. I am a 1911 man myself, but I have had 1911s fail me. I cant have a firearm that fails me. I am not one to bash other pistols, but I know what works everytime. Thus, I now carry Glock.I once had a friend tell me he didnt like Glocks because they were ugly and simple, I told him that when I went to get a Glock , I wasnt in the market for a pimp gun , I wanted something that would work. I carry a Glock on duty and I can tell you from a professional stand point, simple and ugly is a blessing when the adrenaline hits you. In all the times I have drawn my weapon on someone, I can never remember ever using the sights, I know I did, but I was so juiced at the time, I dont remember seeing a sight picture at all, so me fumbling with a safety could have gotten me killed because I was so focused on the suspect, i would not have remembered to flip the safety. I have never owned a Sig, I have shot many of them and I think they are fine weapons. I have owned two HKs, I like them too , but I will stay with the Glock, simple and ugly as sin.

I made the word up, along with the rest of the words in that sentence.

Forgive me, I do this for a living now and then.

Feel free to make weaponeering a household word...like hoplophobia. :D

The only thing I don't like about Glocks is the trigger. I hate that bit of resistance in the trigger right before you finish pulling it all the way to the rear. With that being said, it still pains me that I sold my G27. Give your Sig some time and you'll grow to love it too.

I carry a G19. I like it a lot as a carry weapon. I trust it, and can fire it well enough. But I don't love it. The main thing that keeps me from loving it is the trigger. But it's still a great tool, and I am sure I'll never get rid of it.

FWIW, I like Sig DA/SA triggers quite a bit, but my hand is a bit small for a P226.

I will also add, in addition to the weapons I previously listed, I have also owned many 1911s: Colt, Kimber, Springfield Armory, S&W.

I have found Glocks to be just as accurate as any of the others I owned. I'm able to hit the same exact spots I'm aiming at with Glocks the same as any of the others. I do not find Glocks to be inaccurate at all.

I have also heard alot of people complain that the Glocks are not as accurate as other pistols. I do agree with The Wanderer, they are just as accurate. When people make the comments about the accuracy of the Glock , I usually end up reminding them that the Glock automatic pistol was not designed to be a match grade, gold cup , champion pistol, it was designed as a combat weapon which means combat accuracy which in a nutshel is hitting the center of mass on your target.

I used a G19 when I took an NRA advanced course. During the move, reload and shoot while running drill in dim light, I could barely see the targets in the back of the range. However, the instructor said I hit all the targets in the vital zones at the end of the excercise.

I've sworn by the G19 ever since. It's the one out of all of them I always come back to. I don't like the calibers higher than 9mm, but when I do shoot the .40 and .45, I find I shoot them both the best in Glocks.
