Denver and it's biggest suburb, Aurora- Buy your own from a list of approved weapons and calibers.

Don't know about the other suburbs.

Colorado State Patrol issues M&P 40s

I am not sure what the situation is in Omaha, NE. My niece's husband, who retired from the police dept three years ago or so, carried a Beretta 92 in 9mm. Most of the officers I have seen lately seem to be carrying Glocks. I do not know if there is a caliber specified.

I was recently SOing a stage in a police pistol match with (guessing) teams representing close to three dozen departments in SC. I'd say it was ~80% Glock Fotays, and probably half of the remainder was also chambered in .40. I remember one team shooting 9's, one team shooting Glocks chambered in .45 GAP, and one team with USP .45's.

Indiana State Police - Glock 17
Purdue Univeristy Police - Some flavor of full-size Sig, not sure if its 9 or 40.
Lafayette and West Lafayette IN, - One has full-size Glocks, the other full-size Sigs. Can't remember which is which or what caliber

Pike County (PA) Sheriff's Dept. Sig 9229 (40s&W)

Eastern Pike Regional Police Dept. Glock 22

PA State Police. appear to be carrying the Glock 37 (45GAP) at this point, (correct me if I'm wrong)

Pike county Corrections/Jail: Sig p229 (40 S&W)

my employer recently converted from the Sig p228 to the Sig p229

Little Rock, AR: Glock 22

North Little Rock, AR: Berretta Px4 Storm (caliber unknown)

Arkansas State Police: Glock 22 or Glock 21 (officer preference last I heard)

Lonoke County, AR: Glock 22

Most smaller departments in the area it is provide your own duty pistol.

Columbua, SC: Sig P220

My uncle is retiring in three years from the PA State Troopers and the .45 gap is among the approved calibers. My uncle carried a 92F in the 80's early 90's. Then moved onto the Glocks and for the last few years he said only a few troopers carry the .45 gap most are still using .40's.

Slightly north of blind justice and slightly west of reaper, the police in Spokane carry glocks in .40 with 180gr gold dot-with the possible exception of swat, who had issues with rail light-equipped G22s and the 180 grainers, and were looking at other options last I heard (something about the frame flexion difference with lights mounted that screws with Gaston's mojo... a point to consider if you have a G22 and use a mounted light and favor heavier loads).

Off duty cops seem to gravitate to the G27 with the same GDHP duty load; one guy got shot in the head a few years ago only to jump up and run off to file suit against the department (!)

But I digress. For some light reading, scrolling down to the local and state equipment .PDFs and then going in about half way (page 15 or so) will give some more info, as of about 6 years ago, here:

Austin, TX Police Department - S&W M&P 40

Until recently officers could choose from a list of a variety of weapons which they were free to purchase and carry for duty. For the past few years cadets have still been required to purchase an M&P for use during their time in the academy (even if they were going to buy something else as their duty weapon afterwards), and in the past few months it was announced that it will be mandatory for all officers to abandon their old pistols and carry only the M&P 40.

180gr Gold Dots are the duty ammo.

I love the M&P 40 and have 5 of them, but I know it is not a popular decision with many officers who loved their glocks, sigs, and h&k's.

Houston, TX Police Department:

Smith & Wesson M&P, .40 caliber
Glock Models 22, 22C, 23, or 23C, .40 caliber
Springfield Armory Model XD-40 Duty, .40 caliber
Sig-Sauer Model P229, DA/SA or DAK Versions, .40 caliber
Sig Sauer Model P226, DA/SA or DAK versions, .40 caliber

Officers must choose one of those 5 pistols as their duty weapon.

North Carolina:
Cabarrus County: Sig 226 .40
Concord: Glock 22
Kannapolis: Glock 22
Charlotte: Px4 don't know what caliber
Rockwell: glock 22

I'm surprised there that many .45's issued out in the country. Makes me happy that there is still something other than .40 (which I think is a great round).
Wonder why the NYPD stuck with the 9mm? I carry a 9mm, but it just seems NYPD would be all over the "all mighty" .40.

Macon GA Glock 22
Eatonton Ga Glock 22 and SW M&P .40
Milledgeville GA Glock 22/23

I'm honestly surprised that the SA XD hasn't been chosen more by LE agencies.

Local Sheriff: Anything they want, mainly 1911s and Glocks
Texas DPS: Sig p226 in .357 sig, ladies can choose 9mm.

Illinois State Police Glock 22 & 23
Chicago Transit Police Glock 32
Our County cops, Glocks 9mm & 40
Larger metropoitan Police forces issue Glock 19 & 23 but have open door that allows the cops to carry what they can qualify with, many carry 1911s

The Philadelphia Police Department all carry the Glock 9 mm with the choice of mid or full size models. The "White Shirts" and plain clothes guys have the baby Glocks also in 9 mm. Interesting fact is a few of their older uniformed officers, probably close to retirement are still permitted to cary their 38 spl revolvers.
My Township police department is very progressive and all carry the Glock in 40 S&W.

Louisiana State Police-Glock 22 .40

However, in this crappy local town in south Louisiana, the local PD issues its two officers the cheapest .22LR auto it can find.

I have a lot more respect for Louisiana State Police, though. They really got their stuff together.

Tallahassee Metro Police - Glock 22
Leon County Sheriffs - Glock 22
Florida State Police - Glock 22

I think I'm seeing a trend here...
