Load all six at once.

First one I've seen as well. Don't really know if cranking that screw to load the entire cylinder at once will appeal to folks or not. I load my cylinders out of the gun on a stand that loads one chamber at a time and the cylinder is quickly and easily rotated for each in turn. There may be some benefit to having consistent pressure on each and every chamber. I just don't know how much.

Saw a home made rig years ago that measured powder and dropped into all six chambers and then the guy used a small light duty arbor press to seat six balls in one stroke. Iirc the guy said the press was from a button/badge making outfit.

I didn't even notice the ad in the last issue of Muzzle Blasts. Then again, I only glanced at it (busy with a book).

I've seen people use some washers and bolts and things to load those little .31 cylinders which are kind of a pain otherwise. Just crank it tight and it seats all the balls. This looks like a grown up version of that.

For only $25 bucks, I'm thinking about buying one and it's been years since I shot blackpowder...

The consistancy in ball depth would be very beneficial to the competition shooter.

Howdy

Looks like a solution in search of a problem to me. I have never had any problem using the rammer built onto the gun for loading a Cap& Ball revolver. Never saw the need for any kind of rig other than what is built onto the gun.

But that's just me.

Shanghai - I finished one and will submit it to Osprey. I want to go over it and the editorial guidelines some more before submission. A few years ago they wanted a Union v. Confederate Sharpshooter.

Finally saw the ad. It's on the modern stuff page. No wonder I didn't notice it.

I think it may help loading the '51 cylinder for my homemade pepperbox.

Hey fogg64, that thing is neat as hell man! One thing though, with only the cylinder as a "barrel" wouldnt it be better if you could somehow fit a walker or dragoon cylinder for more power?

Hows does it shoot? I mean hows accuracy\power from it? I wouldnt expect much, but allot BP stuff has really surprised me...

It is .44 cal. and I load 18 grs. fff with cow or wad, they both shoot about the same. The felt recoil is about the same as with a barrel. The target is 23"x35" and I was shooting instinctively with the gun at waist level from 5 yards. I tried some birdshot with felt wads above the powder and top of shot. Wide pattern and not that good of penetration.

I received my loader today. Quick service. They shipped Friday and I got it today. I appears well made and it come with a bushing so can load '51, '60 and '58. I put a ROA cylinder in and the seating head line up but will have to test. I got it for my homemade pepperbox. I'll be testing it in a couple of days.

I just got mine yesterday. The ROA cylinder is larger in diameter than the Pietta cylinder and the chamber spacing is a tiny bit farther apart. The ROA cylinder contacted the rear wall of the tool and kept it from sitting down perpendicular. The rams almost lined up but were slightly off.

Perhaps grinding the front surface of the back support would give enough clearance for the tool to work properly. However, I get the impression it would require excessive force to get the rams all lined up in the ROA cylinder's chambers.

It works fine with the Pietta cylinders.
