Local UPS says, "New Federal Law, no more shipping of firearms, period."

The former day job had a plant about 750 miles from Intergalactic Headquarters here in town.

They popped a modem - about $800 in those days. More if you wanted a new one instead of a refurb.

The gal-in-charge-of-such-things forgot to ask for extra insurance, resulting in a recovery valuation of $100.

Naturally, UPS lost it.... :fire:

The good news was that the manufacturer was willing to sell me another refurb for about $200 more than I'd have paid for the swap. Didn't have to beat on the gal too much.

OTOH, I once ordered a pair of these same modems from a supplier. I wanted one here, and one at the SC plant, and needed them there "yesterday". I paid $40 extra for UPS' super-quick instant delivery option. Let mine go "regular" 'cause I could wait. When I came in about 1000 the next morning, the SC folks were on the phone waiting for me to help them install theirs. I had to move mine off my chair to do it....

Not a scam - the "quick" shipment was essentially guaranteed. Mine was just luck....

OTOH, the kid took a framed picture (with glass!) to a UPS "Storefront" yesterday. About $60 to ship it to TX. Can't wait.... My sister wanted it (I have no idea why - it's pretty ugly) and didn't want to carry it on the plane Monday.... Can't post a picture here - even we have standards :neener: .

Guess this is off topic, but I have the feeling that you can find good and bad stories about anybody if you look. Given only two choices for shipping guns....

Regards,

My local UPS store will not ship firearms. Only the local UPS hub will do it. Not a big inconvenience since it isn't too far from me. I'd rather deal with UPS than deal with the USPS.
