I'mm looking to sell a bunch of my guns to buy a really nice one. The following are what I'm considering buying, and would like some input.

The gun is for fun. Maybe some practical use, but that's not my primary goal.


FN 5.7

Glock 21, .45 ACP

Bushmaster Carbon-14 type rifle, .223/5.56mm

Any input/info will help.

I really don't see how they can justify selling the FN for nearly a grand. Unless you REALLY want it, I'd say it was a waste of money. Hell, a CZ 97 runs half that. :cool:
 
I'd say build yourself a AR type rifle. From what I hear, its pretty easy to build and relatively cheap.

Get a lower and a parts kit, upper and spend your life away on AR-15.com :D

Realistically though, all three of the choices you've given us to choose are so broad, that it really is comparing apples to oranges to star fruits. Pick a category and its intended use, and we can easily come up with some suggestions. Furthermore, your price? A Glock 21 can be had for $500. A FN 5.7 can be had for double the Glock. So what is your intended price range? Any makers you've already ruled out? Which companies do you like and which caliber? Rifle or pistol?

BTW, what is a Springfield P9 compact? Got a picture?
 
i'd say try to not sell to many of your firearms, that seems to be why so many of us kick ourselves later. i think a good 45 or the 223 are the way to go. 223 especially for cheap ammo, and if you reload you will love the 45
 
I've become partial to the CZ 9mm pistols of late, even though I don't own any I think they're pretty nice.
 
Take out a loan, and buy all of them :D . They'll appreciate in value at some point, so you'll actually make profit on the ones you sell later (assuming the word "sell" when associated with firearms is in your vocabulary.....it sure isn't in mine when referring to my mini-arsenal :) ).

And, just outta curiosity, what are you charging for what you're selling? PM me if you want....or not, that's always fine too :p .
 
1st choice, the Bushy carbon 15.

2nd choice, the 5.7.

If you're gonna get a 'really nice' pistol, I'd go for something better than a plain jane glock - maybe an HK P7? Sometimes you can find them under $700 for refurbs or used.
 
My two thoughts (that's all I can handle) are that a .223 is lots of fun for target shooting and could have practical application. I'm soon to be in the market for one for range time, and possible varminting in the future. It's got cheap ammo available for lots of plinking and blasting, and really good ammo for dime sized groups at 100 yards. I'm not an EBR guy, so I picture more of a varmint rifle, but YMMV.

The second thought is that the FN57 looks like a lot of fun, if it doesn't break the bank. I haven't shot one, but a buddy rented one and raved on the accuracy possible and speed getting back on target with the lack of recoil. However, if you don't like it, or get bored with it, I think it might be hard to ever recoup your money. The Bushie will always have people wanting it.

Also, you could get the Bushie AND a CZ-52 for probably the same price as the 57. Then you'd have a .223 and a high speed armor penetrating pistol. Woohoo! Bonus gun. :D

I really enjoy my Glock 21, my wife will get rid of me before she'll part with her Glock 30. *sigh*....

We also enjoy the Dan Wesson .357

FN 5.7 Neat gun, but it has some issues, like ammo shortages. The local shops all have atleast 2 five-sevens, yet only one shop has a tiny box of bullets. At 1$ a round, its not cheap. I rather buy a .50ae Desert Eagle, the ammo can be found without any issues, and its about the same price. My opinion of course..


Glock 21, .45 ACP Well I really don't like the 21, unless it is a model without finger groves. The finger grooves pinched my middle finger, and made it uncomfortable to shoot. For the money it felt cheap, and I don't like the look of it, or its saftey system. I will likely buy one in the future, to test my .45 handloads. I decided on the 21 so if it gets blown up for whatever reason, I wont care :evil:

This is what I would pick, out of your choices.

If I had to choose, I would look at a CZ 97b, a decent 1911, or a hk usp..
 
I'm looking fro a fun gun. That's all. I like Glock, Ruger, and any specific gun that feels good. It can be a rifle, pistol, revolver, or shotgun, and can cost from $3-900.

What specific sort of things do you find fun? Punching small holes close together at great distances kind of fun? Popping steel plates, paper bad guys or silly little clay disks kinds of fun?

If it was me, and "just for fun" with no real need specified, I'd get a tarted up heavy barrel target Ruger Mark II (or III, I guess), and see how far away I can hit a pop can.

Tell me about your Mark I, if you're looking to get rid of it.

Yes, I like long range, tight groups, and blasting hi-cap mags at innocent objects with the intent of killing them. Die, computer monitor, die! :evil:


The Mark I is a beautiful gun with a 4" tapered barrel. I shot a travel pill bottle (about the size of a shot-glass) at 75 yards on the second shot. With open sights. Offhand. Trust me, that was the gun performing, not me. It'll eat anything. I used some 30 year old ammo a friend gave me. I was getting hit in the face by bits of the shell as they fragmented as they ejected. And the gun never jammed. Emptied the mag and still knocked over every single plate I put the sights on at 30 yards (two inch plates). I've never heard of another gun like it.

Unfortunately, someone else wants the gun and I've got the sale all lined up. Sorry!

(I hate bull barrels).
