Trying to decide whether to get a "long-slide" pistol or a sub-compact. I'm seperating the posts in the event I decide. Both the Glock 34 and the XD-9 Tactical (5") are very close to what I'm looking for in a long-slide gun. The Glock has a little fuller grip but the finger grooves would have to be removed to make the gun "fit" me. The XD has a little shorter barrel and a better trigger reach but the thumb indention in the grip seems to be in an awkward spot (I like the lack of finger-grooves, however). I like the fact the XD doesn't have that slide lightening port up front. The Glock seems to be more available. Has anyone shot both these pistols? Any input is appreciated!

I can tell you're going to need both a lonslide and a subcompact. I've owned or shot Glocks 34/35/24. the long slides are great. usually increased accuracy and reduced recoil. I have a HK USP Elite 9mm (6") that is too sweet for words. I think you have to decide which system to buy into. XD or Glock. Never shot an XD but they feel good in the hand and have a crispy trigger. Choose your brand and get both.
