There's also the Remington 597. They're all great rifles IMO. But I'm a dyed in the wool Marlin guy myself. I got that way as a young kid who got to learn to shoot on Dad's 60 back in about 1965. I've got one Marlin 60 with 150,000 rounds through it. I have another that shoots very, very accurate. I have a 795 that's fun as heck to shoot because you can buy a pocketful of mags and keep shooting for an hour before reloading. Or you can carry it around squirrel hunting all day without getting a back ache. It's light, it's accurate, it's durable, it's fun... what else is there? Oh yeah. It's dependable but not as much as my 60's.
