Bianchi makes some decent leather holsters too. The carry lock holster has held up quite well to everyday use with a G23 for a couple years for me. It isn't a thumb break, but you still get the extra retention if you have to have it.
second carrylock...I dunno why I didn't mention that in my post...that's what my G23 is in right now on my hip (Bianchi model82 carrylok) It has the speed of an open top (better actually) and no real drag and reholstering is great and a decisive "click" tells you you are locked in. Retention to me in a CCW holster doesn't mean level III safariland PITA gun grab proof...but more "it won't come out when I'm trying to get something out of the back of the truck at a weird angle and squeezing/leaning on it...it won't come up lost 4 wheeling at the hunting club....and it won't slide out if I accidentally let my jeans hit the floor in a public restroom ect ect. If you need resistance to a gun grab you need to re-evaluate your carry choices...my crossbreed will hide a GLOCK 21 (BIG honkin gun) well enough most people will never know it's there (of course I'm a big guy to so I have room to hide a buick if I wanna carry one-LOL) It's all what you like...but if you want the security of "some retention" without the hassle of a strap it's worth a look.
