I'm looking for a small, low profile, double edged dagger/boot knife?
The only two that seem any good are the CRKT Sting and the Blackhawk XSF Micro.

Am I missing any?

Thanks

Dan

Try to find an AL MAR sting. They pop up on Ebay from time to time. I still have my original from 85'. Not cheap though!

I meant Al Mar "FANG", the "STING" was made by A.G. Russell. That was a good one as well!

Kershaw Boot Knife.

Thanks for the replies guys.

CWL - I forgot to mention the Gerber, thanks.

On further thought, wouldn't you rather buy a real cheap-o knife that you can throw-away in case you need to go thru a metal detector?
And, yes you could be correct....

mdao - That ZT looks like a goer :)

TimM - SOG Pentagon & Cold Steel Brave Heart are a bit to big I think? could be wrong?

66912 - Both the Fang and the Sting are doable if I can find one

dairycreek- That kershaw is nice, but a bit big.

Black Toe Knives - I like the first one looks good ( and expensive) whats the $$$?

Here is the actually specs on that one, That one is sold. I have another one like that. The handle is slimmer in the middle. I am finishing.

Hi Jim,

Can you send me any pics of this other knife and the sheath?

If so I'll PM you my email.

Cheers and any idea of shipping to the UK?

Dan

While Dan is familiar with the laws in the UK and London wrt knives, I need to remind everyone to verify what the law is in their nation/state/locale about what knives are and, more importantly, are not permitted for carry.

HSO, thanks for keeping us in line:)

In the UK, if you have a valid reason to carry a knife, then that knife can indeed be a double edged dagger, or a locking folder or even a bowie.

Without a reason, then the most you can carry is a sub 3" non-locking folder, like a SAK, Spyderco UKPK or friction folder to name but a few.

Unfortunatley even some of our fine LEO's do not have a clear understanding of UK carry laws, so carriers of UKPK's and their ilk have been taken into custody by overly enthusiastic "Bobby's"

Fortunatley, the current compensation rate is approx £300 per hour for a wrongful arrest.

I've been avoiding getting any more daggers, since we're limited to 4 1/2'' single-edged blades (usually 9'' overall) for open carry in Texas.

I've picked up a few nice pieces of patterned damascus that fit my requirements from a fellow on EBay.

This little 5.5'' OA piece became a birthday gift for my sister:

This tiny (5'') gem will wind up in a combo pocket holster:

-And this ten-incher, along with some mammoth ivory, will be my next project:

In a small dagger, proper grip is a must hence make sure the handle regrdless of length fits your hand. Especially IF Double edged i prefer a Guard, YUP even on the SMALL ones IF Single than a deep choil for obvious reasons. Barry Dawson does a small Pocket dagger for under $100, as well as the sheath system really helps this gem shine. Holler if you nered us BS.

The original numbered Gerber MK 1 from 1976 to 1980 was THE small dagger in use by "professional" . They were made of L6 tool steel until 1980 and were 5" long. Try to get one!

And in all fairness since you asked stock type. Barry was kind enough to make this one from D2 for I, due to my FL local and how close to the body the blade would ride. ran about $175.00 though, I have seen same model, sheath etc. steel? On such places as FleaBay for closer to $100 :) Quite the bargin IMO.

I like to find vintage Solingen knives on Ebay and refurb them with my own handles and stuff. It makes it personal for me and saves money. You just have to do some research on the blades you want before you "Buy It Now". Some of you guys have some REALLY BEAUTIFUL knives, esp. the damascus stuff!
