Seems not many manufacturers are making rifles in .338 Win Mag these days. I love the cartidge and have had a Winchester Classic with a BOSS system on it for many years but I don't really like the rifle. I'm more of a Remington fan but didn't see on that I like on their site. Was wondering if anyone has a manufacturer they would recommend. Don't really want to spend more than $2K but accuracy is PARAMOUNT!!!

You might want to take a look at a Kimber 8400 in .338 Win Mag. If you like wood they offer a Classic Select Grade and Super America. If you like synthetic there's the Montana. I have a pair of 8400s including a Montana and a Talkeetna and really, really like the rifles. The only problem I have right now is deciding which to use this year for Elk. Well, the other problem I have is trying not to buy a NIB 8400 Montana in .325 WSM for a ridiculously low price. My 8400s are chambered in .300 WSM and .375 H&H so a .325 WSM is kind of redundant but very tempting.

Buy a used Remington 700 in any magnum caliber and have a custom builder fit a premium barrel in the contour you prefer. Shaw, Shilen, Douglass, Kreiger are all premium quality and cost from $200 to $350. When fitted by a reputable smith, it will be a good shooter. Shop around, most smiths charge from $200 $350 for installation. Still cheaper than a Kimber. I have had to rebarrel Kimbers to get the desired accuracy, so the name is no guarantee of accuracy.

Dakotashooter, I missed the part where you mentioned your preference for Remington. Kp321 makes a good point about having a nice barrel installed on a Remington action. I did that twice using Krieger barrels and the results (accuracy) were outstanding. I sold one of the rifles for more than it cost me to build it and still have one.

Kp321, I must have got lucky with the two Kimbers I have and one that I sold. All three shoot (shot) well. I might go the route you suggested with the 8400 in .325 WSM. I'd love a .308 Win on an 8400 action that I could use for hunting (not Tactical model).

Weatherby chambers their Vangaurd Series 2 in 338 WM. You can find the blue/synthetic version on the web for $499, wood or stainless/synthetic cost more. MOA gauranteed, and Weatherby will stand behind their product. My Vanguard Series 2 has the best trigger of any of the rifles in my collection.

I own a Savage Model 116 SE ("Safari Express"), chambered in .338 Magnum that is plenty accurate. The rifle has a s/s action and barrel, saddled in a nicely figured and checkered walnut stock. It comes equipped with "express" style open sights, the front base for a swivel mounted on the barrel and a unique muzzle brake that can be turned on or off. I'm not sure if this exact model is being made anymore but Savage makes other similarily configured rifles chambered in .338 Magnum, last I heard.

The Ruger M77 was recommended highly to me by someone who has shown to be very reliable. When I find a new place to shoot I'm going to go find out how accurate it is.

I have an X-bolt by Browning that I have been very happy with. Hunter model with blued/syn stock. I really prefer the short bolt lift in the field and the gun itself is fairly light and easy to carry all day.

With the loads I worked up it shoots 1moa 200gn Hdy IL at 3k no problem. Kicks pretty good but for hunting who cares.
Federal premium 225gn Accubond also shoot about 1moa or a bit more.

Not sure how much accuracy you are looking for but handloading almost always yields excellent accuracy in all my rifles.

I also have a Wby Mk5 Accumark that truly shoots 3 shots 1 hole 250gnNP at 3k at 100yds handloaded 338-378wby mag.
Both of my Weatherbys are excellent shooters. Not much love for them on this site but they really do perform. Pretty heavy though. Not sure if that matters to you or not.
