first time to post on the black powder area. i am looking for goex fffg for my new flinter. i live in nacogdoches tx and any where within 100 miles would be fine. thanks

BassPro ought to have it. You'll have to ask for it though, and some people don't seem to be aware they have it.

I order my powder from Grafs as I had problems finding 3F Triple 7 at BassPro years ago. I got tired of wasting my time and found that Grafs was cheaper, though they charged shipping and the HazMat fee. This was negated when 3 lbs were bought.

I lived in San Antonio then and wanted to try an energetic BP but couldn't find anyone. Now I buy mostly Goex Olde Eynsford which is quite similar to Swiss and Triple 7 as far as energy goes.

From what I've read, those who tried Olde E said it fouled less than standard Goex and other standard BPs. It's less than $2 more per pound.

If you shoot much BP, buy 5 lb. from Graf's. After figuring in HazMat and their standard $7.50 handling fee, it works out to about $24 or less per lb. The more you buy the lower the price/lb. up to 50 lb.

I don't bother driving all over anymore just to find out they thought Pyrodex and black powder are the same thing when I called them and asked.

fees

thanks sir, i guess ill go the interweb route as there are alot of things i cant find around here. will ups deliveronce i pay the hazmat fee? thanks again

Go to a cowboy shoot.
Get together with a few other shooters and get a case from Graf's, Powder inc, Maine powder house, or any of the other distributors.

Yes they will deliver. I bought 4 pounds a while back and ponied up for the hazmat. Came just fine.

Be aware that Bass Pro charges around 30 dollars a pound. I bought 1 lb to try out, but in the future will order a larger quantity to save in bulk.

Wow! Grafs sells regular Goex for $17.59/lb and Goex Olde E for $18.99/lb. And this price is a little higher than last I bought some time back (over a year).

An alternative to Graf's is Powder, Inc. in Clarksville, AR.

Their website is down, but call Jerry or Naomi at 877-833-1799.

Prices are close to Graf's. They ship in 5 lb, 10 lb, & 25 lb case.

Get together with friends and order up a 25 lb case.

If so, GOEX will be $17.24 Including shipping & HazMat.

I'm just a satisfied customer; have been for years.

Tell 'em, "Buck sent me".

What Buck said!

That's an excellent price Buck! I looked at them long ago but thought you had to order in larger quantities than just 5 lbs. Maybe I was mistaken or maybe I thought I'd be over my monthly hobby funds ($100), which doesn't sound right, which goes back to possibly being mistaken.

I'll certainly check them out again and see what I see! Thanks!

Just took delivery on 15 pounds of 3f, Grafs own label, total price per pound in the front door. $17.00

An adult has to be present to sign however when delivered. (Might be a problem for working folks).

The Basspro off I30 in garland would be quite a drive and I would call ahead to make sure they have exactly what you want before making the trip.

They don't keep it on the shelf with the rest of the powders you have to ask a guy behind the gun counter to go get it for you.

Grafs is a great place.

I swing on by there whenever I'm going through mo on 70. They're about 1/2 hour north of 70. That way, I don't have to pay for any shipping or hazmat fees whatsoever. Plus, they have GREAT prices on Goex powder. $15.99 for a 1lb can last time I checked.

I've got a couple orders from Graffs and they're great to deal with. The darn HazMat charge is not their fault and just something we have to live with, though we can minimize it per pound by ordering as much as will fit on a tag. This gets the cost down to just a bit over $1.00 per lb so that's not so bad at all. If you don't need or want so much poweder how about getting together with some friends and buying a group order? The Graffs label powder works just fine and I see no difference between the more expensive Goex.

Grafs is Schutzen powder which is FAR better than regular Goex.

IMO Goex is the worse of all the powders, Goex Old Eynsford on the other hand is a different story, it is great powder, one of the best.

Do you mean a $1.00 per pound applied as shipping.

I think one could order up to 50 pounds, I know by fed law one can store up to a that amount in a domicile.

Personally I think anything over 25 pounds is going to attract unwanted attention form some fed bureau or other.
