I shoot 22lr ammo through my Beretta 87 (extended barrel version) and found the remington (walmart 500 box) to have about 2-3 duds every 50 to 100 rnds fired. Mini-mags have been 100% reliable for me. Stingers also are reliable but someone mentioned it might be a little hard on the beretta. Anybody else with recommendations? Reliability, accuracy, and cost???? thanks in advance.

have been shooting well for me at little more cost than the dimestore stuff. As far as dimestore ammo goes, the cheap Federal hollowpoint in bulk cartons is reliable but not as accurate.

What I can't blow up, I'll penetrate and mush up inside.
In case anyone is inclined to flame the .22 - it's backup to my .45ACP

Eley, Lapua, CCI. Seems to be the preference over on Rimfire central. I haven't seen anything, personally, to make me disagree with those. That's not to say that others aren't good. I use CCI stuff mainly, myself, and I cannot honestly recall an ammo related problem with it. Given the number of rounds of 22lr that go down range in a given period of time, I would be surprised if there weren't some failure to fire somewhere, with anything.

I'd like to second Wolf Match Target. It shoots better in my Ruger Single Six than $8.00 a box Eley or RWS, and it costs about $2.00 a box. What's not to love? It's my understanding that Wolf .22lr ammo is made by SK Jagd.

Wolf Match Target - Hard to find right now...there's some around but a lot of folks are on backorder. Was $15 a brick a year ago, then crept up slowly to $20-ish, and now it just depends. One web vendor is selling it, or trying to, for $39.97 a brick.
Wolf Match Extra - Was $25-$30 a brick the end of last year. The vendor mentioned earlier now wants $49.97 a brick. I'll sell what's left of my case for $49 a brick even - maybe $48

Eley. Good so far, but I'm still testing when the weather permits.

.22s tend to be individuals with respect to which ammo they shoot best. I always like to try several different kinds in a new .22 to see which is most accurate, and which feeds best if the gun is a repeater.
That being said, I have had very good results with Winchester T22 in a variety of guns, my 10/22 really likes Winchester Power Points, my 9422 likes Aguila Sniper Subsonics, and my S&W 18 shoots well even with the cheap Winchester XPerts for $9.95/500 at Wal-Mart.

I've had good luck with Winchestor Dynapoint from Kmart. Here's a target I shot at 50yrds with the Dynapoint.
Here's a target I shot with the Velocitor.
These were with a 10/22. I've shot the same ammo out of my Ruger Mk II with a C-More red dot and get similar groups at 25yds off sand bags.

I've found that Federal Lightnings work well and shoot great in most of my 22's, and The federal in the bulk boxes from Wally World is almost as good. I've had good experiance with the Rem Gold Bullets in the bulk boxes also, never had a dud in the Rems. Try the Lightnings first and see if they aren't as accurate as any other , at a lower cost also.

It seems to me the bulk stuff is hit or miss. I was sold on the Remington
stuff from Wallyworld until the last box. I'd have four misfires out of ten.
In every mag. The CCI Blazer stuff has been the best cheap stuff I've shot
so far.

Also good, if you can find it, is "Peters" High Velocity ammo (not Remington) in a brown and gray box, sometimes goes on sale at Big 5 for $12.99/brick.

It is the 87 Cheetah Long Barrel. The blueing and the wood grips (walnut, I think) makes it a beautiful pistol.

I've had the highest percentage of misfires with the Remington Golden Bullets, some with both Federal Classic and Winchester Super-X, and none yet with CCI. I'd stick with the mini-mags out of those 4 types.

Bought this at the gunshow yesterday (Big Town Show in Mesquite, TX - Any one go?). Got a 500 box for $23. Shot it today, and compared them with Remington Golden Bullets.
Remington Golden Bullets: fired 40 rounds, had one dud. Tried to run it through 3 times. three dents one the rim, no go.
Federal Gold Medal Target: 50 rounds fired, had one bullet that finally fired on the third try. Otherwise, consider it 50 for 50. More accurate than golden bullets for my beretta 87. Overall, I like this stuff. Next gunshow I go to, I'm going to try and purchase a little bit of everything youse all have recommended.
Also bought/tried +P ammo for the first time in my 1911
Tried Golden sabers and Federal. Felt like I was shooting 10mm Norma.
