Looking for pistol refinishing,Balto-Metro area

Can anyone recommend a decent Baltimore-Metro area 'smith (preferred) who has experience doing black oxide hot bluing and prep work? I have a pistol (semi-auto) that could use a refinish but not a ground-up restoration unlike an antique. I can do some of the prep work.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

I don't know of anyone in the state who I would trust to blue a gun - and I've been here for 17 years.

Don't be afraid to send it out. Reputable shops can take care of you and your gun.

Hey Doug,

Thanks alot for the info and link to Ahlmans! Their prices are the best that I've seen so far regarding rebluing. I have a Sistema Colt that at one point I wanted to sell but now I suppose I'll keep the critter. There's too many tire kickers out there these days! I'm fairly certain that the finish thats left is the original bluing. It still functions great after 50 years but it could stand to be refinished. If it was in rough shape I would probably get it parked. A new blue job and new grips made from rosewood or something similar and its good to go.

I did install a commander style hammer and beavertail for a better fit in my hand but the frame isn't modified for it.(both parts are Wilson Combat)

BTW, what type of work did they do for ya ?
