Looking for something unique, something with style..

I like where your head is at, that's a solid choice. Unfortunately it doesn't quite fit my budget or size needs. Very interesting gun though, I'm intrigued by it's performance.

O.k. I'll play along. That "run of the mill" gun might be out there because it works, or has proven itself to be in that 1% category of "bet your life on it".

No one knows when I carry, no one ever sees my gun, and none of them would get a vote anyway. A gun looking cool has nothing to do with function. Function should be your number one consideration. Buying all the ammo you can find and spending countless hours perfecting your ability to shoot it goes much further than cool.

Mentally preparing for how, when, where, and why you would involve yourself in a tactical event is time well spent, and has nothing to do with cool.

I would rather tell my friends and family that I am 99% prepared to defend our safety with this ugly gun that I spent $600 on and have shot one thousand rounds through already, than bragging about some wiz-bang shinny, cool looking gun that hasn't had 50 rounds fired yet.

You might be a perfect candidate to rent a few guns first to see what works for you. Then think about how to carry (holster stuff), what you're wearing, and then start doing the non-stop mental push-ups about what would really turns your life upside down if/when you need to use that gun.

I'm not trying to bust on you, but "cool" really has nothing to do with the severe responsibilities of being a concealed carry citizen.

Best of luck.

In the original post I stated that function and reliability are primary concerns too. This thread was intended to find the triple threat gun (reliability, function, and "cool"). I see no reason why a gun can't have all three, and also see no correlation between gun choice and practice time. I shoot weekly, and whatever gun I purchase will be number one in the rotation until I'm completely comfortable operating and carrying it and it proves it's reliability.

The problem is

1....What's reliable

2.... What will you carry

The only real 'Pocket pistol' is the Seecamp. Then it's on to a S&W 642. If size doesn't matter than get a Sig 226, because it's DA and a safe super reliable gun.

How a bout a Walther P99?
If you really want a challenge, find a Walther P88 Compact.

Lots of great suggestions. I will duplicate many.

HK P7 PSP or M8. I carry a PSP and keep the M8 for the range.

CZ-75D PCR. Just an all around great carry or range gun. The ergos are great and I love the trigger reach and grip angle. Former Combloc heaven.

P-08 Luger. If you want different, here ya go. I have a Mauser (BYF-41) Luger that is 100% reliable and very accurate. I would not hesitate to carry this pistol.

Walther P-5.

Colt 01911 or 01918 WWI Repros. Very classy, and with the right holster, very easily carried. :)

Check out a Makarov. I've owned a few, still have one, and have yet to see any other pistol that is as reliable. It's also terribly easy to maintain, clean, etc. For the "coolness" you seek, I think that the red star grips may do the trick.

I can't make this thing jam no matter what I do:

Do you mind carrying something a bit larger and more powerful?

Another vote for CZ, here.

I, personally, won't carry a gun if I care about its looks. Leather holsters, jeans rivets, and everyday miscellanea don't always treat them well.

But, want classy? Get a CZ 75 in whichever flavor you want (mine's a 75D PCR), throw some nice checkered wood grips on it, get the frame duracoated if you want.

Or find a stainless one, and polish it. I would also be partial to black/grey laminate grips, if you can find them.

More classically, find a Hi-Power and get it polished. They're like the 1911's toned, well-groomed cousin. :D

There's also the Walther PPK. There's nothing more obviously classy than a PPK and a vodka martini.

IMHO, it's difficult to beat the Italians when it comes to great design. Early Beretta 84s like this one can still be found, and can still be carried (13+1 rounds of .380 Auto). I like the old ones because they can be carried cocked and locked, as well as the rounded trigger guard vs the current model's squared-off version. It's also accurate and functions 100% with everything.

Added: My wife has now claimed this 84 as her own. She finds the grips fit her well, and likes the 14 round capacity.

How about a nice semi-custom Nighthawk 1911. These are pics of my Lightweight Talon II Bobtail.

My vote is with any of Kahr's all steel guns.

These days polymer guns are a dime a dozen, and don't look special.
Steel turns heads because as a cary gun, it's probably the exception rather than the rule.

I love my Kahr K40. It is my "triple threat" gun.

This is not particularly unique, but I feel attractive and functional. I have been carrying for a few years now and by guns just get smaller and smaller.

don't bother. Its a plastic gun. No plastic gun has style.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Kahr PM9, Glock 34 and M&P 45. But they're about pure function. Not style.

P51 Remington
The "P51 Remington" referred to is actually the Remington 51 in either .32 or .380.

Dig the classic Art Deco lines. A work of art, exuding class.
