I saw one at the local shooting range and was wow that is neat. i ask the guy where he got one said a gun show for 150?:what: where is a place to buy one cheap and is the 7.5 x 55 a good deer round with a 174gr softpoint?

The going rate seems to be $250 to a little north of $350. I picked up two from a private seller for $165 and $200. The buttstocks were a little rough as is typical with the K31, but the actions are in outstanding condition as is also typical. I also stumbled on one locally that's in a Boyds walnut sporter stock with a Swiss Products offset scope mount for $119 that was a steal.

As the supply of these rifles starts to dry up prices are rising, especially as folks catch on to the fact that these are amazing rifles that invariably are in outstanding shooting condition. I believe J&G still has them. GunBroker is also a source. The days of a sub $200 K31 are quickly drawing to a close.

Classic arms has them. The 7.5x55 is a 30 caliber and can be loaded for deer. Privi also sells ammo for it and I believe some of it is soft point which should be suitable for hunting deer size game.

I have a 1953/1933 K31 for sale with lots of extras if you're interested.

$275 for the rifle (hand-picked with troop tag), soft case, brass muzzle cap, original sling. Barely used no-drill St. Maries scope mount (look it up!) for an extra $50. FFL only.

Also about 400 rounds of ammo, PM if you're interested

Really is a great rifle for the money, and a very limited production run compared to Enfields, Mosin's etc... should appreciate in value nicely. Thanks!

Swiss ball pushes a 174 FMJ at 2565 fps. This is equal to LC 308 National Match with a 174. The Swiss round is more powerful than a number of popular commerical rounds. It should make a fine deer round.

AP11 Swiss Ball headstamp DA 78

Ave Vel = 2565
Std Dev = 11
ES = 23
Low = 2551
High = 2574

Bought my K31 through SOG Intnl 4 years ago for $119. Killed a standing doe at 231 paces with the battle sights set at 300 mtrs using Hornady 165 gr SP loads I ordered from Graf and Sons. Dropped her in her tracks! Probably not the most ethical shot but the backstop was right and I had to try it. Needless to say I was impressed with both rifle and ammo! The bolts are easily diassembled without tools for cleaning and lube. I recommend downloading the dis- and re- assembling info from the web though.

GP11 is hands down the best to shoot out of K11's and K31's.

The Swiss got it right with their issue ammo, no aftermarket company has topped them.

GP11 is great for paper punching but the Hornady was right on par with it for accuracy and of course a better choice for hunting.

Haven't checked in with Graf and Sons for awhile because I bought 3 boxes of the Hornady loads for hunting with after I killed the deer and had verified the accuracy from my K31. If Cabelas is trying to dump them I'll buy as many boxes as I can afford!!!

If you live in the mid-south (near Memphis), the local Classicarms in Cordova has a nice K-31.
Looked at it today.

A friend who is pretty experienced with various rifles told me that his K-31 hit everything he aimed at, when he first tried it, and has never seen a gun do that well with iron sights. He only uses Swiss ammo (GP-11 Patronen).

The solid recoil reminds me of my Yugo Mauser (maybe a bit stronger), and the Swiss have a very rugged, solid feel when operating the bolts.
As rugged as a Mosin Nagant, but many times smoother.

Alan's was some K31's pretty reasonable. Hard to find one for $150 anymore, those days are gone. Nice walnut stocked rifles can push $400 any more. They are still a lot of rifle for $400.
