Yea pretty much junk. BUT...... there were some of the .25s made with an aluminum frame or slide back in the day for those states that had the melting point law. Those are somewhat collectible. Don’t know if it was done in anything larger than .25

IMO, the only ring of fire gun worth paying money for are the Raven .25's. Phoenix Arms still makes mags for them.
.......... And for the discerning collector we offer this eclectic mix of compact, concealable, convenience coupled with .25 ACP firepower. Here's your chance to own a genuine piece of American Firearms history. The Original Raven handguns were once a mainstay of the low price personal defense sector of the market. Over the years attrition, ( AKA gun buy backs ) have significantly reduced their numbers but now you can own an example of one of these well known pieces of Americana. Enhance your collection with this genuine 1970's-80's blast from the past..... IMG_1592.JPG .... IMG_3098.JPG ... IMG_3099.JPG ..................................

These serve a purpose if you need a 'gun'. You can put one with expensive equipment in your check luggage, and declare a firearm so that the airline doesn't lose it. You can also put it with something likely to be stolen so that a burglar catches a worse charge. They be also be given to friends family to make them gun owners and overcome their fears of having guns in the home.

I mean, nothing you said was wrong and I think gun buy backs and the number of these guns having been destroyed due to use in crimes has reduced their numbers a lot and with how short the service life of these cheap pistols are and the low collector interest, it's possible in a few decades Ravens and other Ring of Fire pistols become rare. Pot metal frames and slides, sure, but at least they feel good when you hold them, unlike any polymer pistol.

Got the Raven back in 1995 when the LGS took it in as one gun of a multi-gun trade in. Shop owner said he didn't stock junk and gimme $25. and it's yours. I believe it's an earlier production model. Doesn't seem as cheap looking as some that I've seen up close. It's had 208 rounds through it since 1995, ( I have a log book for all my guns ) with no problems yet. Most of that was fired in the first couple years. Hasn't been fired in a few years now. Felt sorry for the gun as at that time I was working in a chemical waste incinerator where several times a year we did gun burns for area police departments. A LOT of those Ravens, Lorcins, etc. went through that incinerator back then. Nowadays I've run into young guys who have never seen a Raven in person. So they're getting to be somewhat of a relic of a bygone time even though they'll never be valuable collector items. Based on what I've heard about Lorcins, the OP is probably lucky he didn't acquire it.

Much better idea. At least with an Airsoft, you can get something that resembles a respected model.

Actually picked up a Umarek H&K P30 for $30 today. It's a spring loaded pellet gun with a metal slide that will make a nice training aid. The bonus is I can school my grandchildren on gun safety and shooting that will have added fun.
