Bad compound question...anyway, I voted yes.
Protection of the neighbor's home is dicey. You have to consider the fact that you could be wrong about your assessment of the situation. At the end of the day, it's still a human life we're talking about. A reasonable, but mistaken, assessment isn't good enough when we're talking about deadly force. You must be absolutely correct, not just reasonably correct. For example, a furniture mover in a hooded sweatshirt carrying a TV from your neighbor's place doesn't deserve a bullet center mass. The DA will prosecute you vigorously if you make such a mistake.
By the way, I interpreted the term "home" to mean more than just property; it also includes individuals dwelling therein. That is debatable of course.
