All,

I am looking for a good reputable place to send 2 M1 Garand's to have them refinished and safety checked. Both have a lot of sentimental value to me, but I know the family member I received them from would not want them to just be sitting in my safe and they have been for two years now with me just cleaning them and wiping them down about twice a year.

If you don't feel making recommendations publicly please email me. I would like to send them in within the next week or so with hopes of getting them back by Christmas.

Thanks

Mr. Revolverguy, What part of the country do you live in?
We have a great M1 'smith in Florida. There are many in other parts of the country. Even one in NJ.

If you want them refinished and refurbished like brand new ones, in a quick time frame, at a good price, there's only one man....and most of the M1 collectors at the CMP fourms would agree. Tim Shufflin at Shuff's Parkerizing. http://shuffsparkerizing.com/ I think the website's being worked on, so call him.

Cant say enough good about Shuffs Parkerizing
I have had him build and repark 3 Garands for me
Best prices and great work
If you hjust need them safety checked and inspected I can do that, I am in Ohio

Does Shufflin put on new stocks or repair old? I looked at his website and it all seems to be just parkerizing.

Only reason I asked about Christmas is because one of them I would love to give back to my dad.

He builds rifles , reparks just about anything you want done, and does install new wood. Dont know of any of the mentioned vendors that work on reparing stocks
You might give him a call or e-mail him and ask
What do you need done to the stock?

I have one of The Garand Guy's premium shooters also and it's an amazing rifle. I don't have the Kreiger barrel because I opted for one that had an earlier S/N (SA May 1943). The barrel still had a TE of 2.

Dont know where you are in Ohio but there is a guy that lives around Hinkley that restores USGI stocks
Really depends on what you have, if by any chance you would happen to have any original correct Garands I would not touch them as it will hurt the value
If they are mixmasters then reparking wont hurt
PM me if you need any help
