Gang, I just got done assembling a scout scope on my M1 carbine. It’s a 2.75x20mm from Burris. I really like it so far:

Featherweight scope and adds almost no weight, and the magnification isn’t overkill for the .30 carbine cartridge. Heading to the range tomorrow morning and can’t wait to test it.

Is that a GI or repro?
Interesting concept. Is that barrel wear a different color because of a removed bayonet lug front band?

I ran one for a while. On both an m1 carbine and a marlin 1894. They work. Better than irons for sure. But in the end, I couldn't do the both eyes open thing, and the tiny field of view wasn't great. There isn't a better way to scope the carbine, but the marlin is much better with a traditional 1-4x scope.

But that's just my opinion. I hope you really enjoy yours!

If that Mount will allow it, you may consider going to the bayonet Mount style in the future.

It should tighten the groups up a little, and it may make the mount more stable too.

Besides.... You have a late safety and a late rear sight....

Now that makes sense and is a much better way than conventional mounting a scope on an M1 carbine. I run the Ultimak mount and a Burris Red dot on my HD M1 carbine. The women love it, much better than an AR , usually :)

You might consider low QD lever type rings, and drilling the rear peep out a little :)

Looks good. :)

Ive thought about doing that with one of mine and using an Aimpoint instead of the scope. Ive had a couple of Ultimaks on a couple of AK's and they are good kit. They let you get the optic down about as low as you can get it making things a lot easier and more natural to shoot with.

Ive gone the forward mounted scope and red dot route on a couple of different guns and ended up prefering the red dots for most of them. I just find them quicker and easier to shoot with for that type of gun.

I had both the Leupold and Burris Scouts and liked the slightly less power of the Leupold over the Burris. If I hadnt had the Leupold first to know there was a difference, Id probably never have noticed, but once I did, that little extra power of the Burris drove me nuts fro some reason. :)

Very cool ! I thought about one but dang scopes are expensive, then I need the mount.

Shot the carbine today and it was just incredible:

I love this setup and the scope didn’t budge. Once dialed in, 2” 50 yard groups were easy and it felt like plinking with a big .22. Would make a GREAT javelina, coyote, groundhog, or brush gun. What a gem, and handles beautifully with the custom 6 round flush magazine I made. I REALLY LIKE IT GUYS.

That view is what I like about scout scopes. You get a reticle "floating" above the barrel with no protrusions from the scope blocking your view around that reticle. It looks even better with your eye on the stock than it does with that camera view. Folding those levers down to horizontal would add some view, too.

Are they Leupold lever rings you have on there?

Ive used those and ARMS lever rings on a number of guns, and found that, especially with heavier recoiling rounds, how you set the rings up before mounting the scope makes a big difference.

Probably not as much an issue with the Ultimak and Carbine, but some other rails arent always in spec, and the rings can and will move under recoil, if you dont set them against the blocks prior to mounting the scope.

Once set, the scope cant move, but still comes off and goes back on easily, without zero loss.

Excellent point on the QD rings. After carefully setting them up for the particular rail you want it for full contact against the Forward ( muzzle side) lug before tightening rings to scope. When replacing the unit on same or other applications push forward on the scope you are holding to ensure contact with the Forward lug again. With quality rings and mount you will be golden

Im assuming they attach to the Carbines like they do with the AK's here. If thats the case, you might have a couple of small scuffs at the contact points, but I doubt you'd really notice.

And realistically, other than if you had it apart for cleaning, you wouldnt see it at all if you removed it and put the original handguard back on.
