M91/30 issue...

I'm an idiot. I'm sure of it.

I just got a couple m91/30s in from AIM and after unpacking them I decided it would be fun to put a bayonet on!

Now I can't get it off. I don't even think it actually went on all the way so it's at sort of a halfway point.

Help, please.

Breakfree spray, let sit over night. Use a wooden mallet or a facsimilie there of to persuade it off the next day. Chances are that the bayonet serial number is different from the rifle so it was fitted to another one.

it happened to me to. Those bayonets rarely fit. Just wiggle it and pull it of.

GUILTY!! Like 308 said just keep wiggling and pulling. Keep in mind just where that bayonet point is going when it dose come loose.

Unload the rifle first, obviously. In fact, remove the bolt entirely, since the bolt handle can dig into your calf. Hold the rifle so that the butt is between your feet and knees, you're going to want a good grip on the rifle itself with your legs, since both your hands are needed to twist the bayo. The key is to push down on the bayo as you twist. It should work with some persistence. If not, a brisk rap with the heel of your palm right against the side of the blade right at the socket should do the trick.

Bang on the edge of anything that doesn't look like a rifle. A fairly good sized brass punch may be beneficial.

The first accessory needed with the purchase of any Mosin Nagant is a good rubber mallet and a cold chisle.

I did the same thing to mine about 3 weeks ago. You just have to wrestle with it to get it off. Didn't like the scratches it left behind on the barrel but, oh well. Stupid weather hasn't allowed me to shoot it yet.

Or just leave it on, since Soviet doctrine dictated leaving the bayonet affixed, for the most part.

Q. My M91/30 bayonet is numbered to the rifle, but it won't fit on the muzzle, why is that?
A. Soviet military doctrine called for the bayonet to remain fixed to the rifle at all times with the exception of traveling by motor vehicle or when in long term storage. The bayonet will go on, but it will be a very tight fit and will be difficult to remove. This is good for charging infantry, but not collectors. The inside of the bayonet socket can be opened slightly with a dowel wrapped with sandpaper to make fixing and removal easier.

And yeah, they sure go on a lot easier than they come off, eh?
