I know I've said it before, but I have to say it again. Man, knives are addictive. This can become more of an addiction than even guns. I don't know what it is: maybe its because they are much cheaper, maybe it is the many different shapes, sizes and designs, maybe it is the workmanship, the materials, the look. Whatever it is, man I do love knives all of a sudden.

Anyway, yesterday I decided I wanted one or two new knives.

There were some old west style knives Bass Pro Shop carried for some time. I went to buy one or two yesterday and they were out, and they weren't going to carry them again. I waited too long:banghead:

Well, I also wanted a Ka-bar. I am a history buff, and I've especially been "into" WWII history since I was in elementary school. The Ka-bar, in addition to being a good general purpose knife, is a piece of history. Anyway, everyone carries Ka-bar so I didn't think there would be a problem. Well, Bass Pro was out (only had the short knife) and when I went to Chesapeake Knife & Tool they were out too (they had the newer stainless version with the black polymer grip).

Well, I did pick up a Gerber AR 3.00 BBS. It really is a nice knife. I'd prefer a straight edge instead of serrations, but I can live with serrations. It is comfortable, extremely smooth to open, and fits my hand well. I also like the looks, and I really like the looks of the blackened blade.

Then last night I stop by Chesapeake Knife & Tool at the local mall and some items were on sale. I really do love my Kershaw knives and I especially like the "speedsafe" feature. I picked up a Matte Black Leek, the knive that they claim is exclusive to CKT. Anyway, the prices at the store must be different than online. The online price shows as $79.99, the "regular" price at the store was a few dollars more, but I got it on sale (50%) and got it for $42!:D This one fits really well as well, I love the speedsafe opening, and I love the all matte black look. I really like this knife a lot. It will probably become my knife that gets the most carry time (with the Gerber mentioned earlier probably becoming a close second).

Anyway, I think I have enough folders for now. There are a few nice ones I'd like soon, but I'm probably going to wait a couple months. However, there are still some fixed blades that I plan to get soon.

In addition to the Ka-bar that nobody had in stock yesterday (I may order one online), I keep finding myself coming back to these. I really like the look of some of those Marttiini knives (from Finland). Does anyone know anything about that company? How good are they? Anyway, the ones I want are the top two, the Marttiini Commemorative Lynx and the Marttiini Bronze Bird.

While it is difficult to hide long guns and handguns,
it's easy to hide the knives from the wife!

Hey!!!

Chaim- if you keep buying all that fancy slicing and dicing stuff, you won't have enough money for ammo to make holes with!!!

Welcome to the dark side. I went through about a 16-month period where I probably averaged a knife per week from eBay. I swear I'm still opening desk drawers and finding knives I'd long forgotten I'd ordered. Which is very cool. Be sure to check out knifeforums and bladeforums.

There are some great Scandanivian knives out there. There's a website that's highly regarded for such knives but I can't remember the name--it was Ragweed or something like that. Maybe. Had a link on my old computer, but the computer took a lightning hit this past summer and melted internally.

Anyway, I think I have enough folders for now.
If only I had a nickel for every time I've uttered this line to my wife....

....I'd have enough money to buy myself a nice folder.

I can quit any time I want.
Denial is the first sign of addiction. Seek help now.

I tend to be the bulemic of the knife world--binging and then purging. Lately, I've been binging. In the past few weeks, I've bought an older Buck 110, two Cold Steels, a Queen fixed blade, a Bark River, and I have plans to pick up a couple of Camillus Beckers and possibly a Martindale machete.

Man, when I list them all out like that, I begin to realize that I need to seek therapy myself.

Serenity now!

At one time I had over a Dozen Benchmades. I sold most of them for gun funds and kept all the ones that had Titanium on them.

Dude, dont buy anything from Chesapeak knife and tool. They are super high. Their prices are like, take retail, and add 20 bucks to it. or more.

Especial when they want close to 70 for a delica.

If you dont mind traveling the place to goto for knives in md is edgeworks.
They are located in historic frederick on market street. Its where i buy all my knives. If i dont buy online. But i really looked at CKT prices compared to the other store and they were like 30 bucks in difference on most knives.

What Slim said. Chesapeake K&T is waaaaaay high. You should get acquainted with the Knife Center of the Internet (they're in College Park) www.knifecenter.com - I rarely find better prices on line and their service is excellent.

I've been carrying a Leak for about a year now. After having the Leak I can carry anything else.

I tried to carry my Whirlwind last week and it felt like a brick compared to how slim the Leak is. If you don't already have on get a Chive next. They are a great little knive as well (then again I haven't really found a Kershaw I didn't like :D)

Mike: The only problem i have with knifecenter, hes not a Brick and Morter, just one guy acting as the distribution center.

I guess if you've got to hold it before you buy, then you need a storefront. If I run into something unique or interesting when I'm out and about, and the price is right, I'll take it home with me, but most of the time, I can wait a couple days for it to show up on my doorstep. YMMV
