I know I've said it before, but I have to say it again. Man, knives are addictive. This can become more of an addiction than even guns. I don't know what it is: maybe its because they are much cheaper, maybe it is the many different shapes, sizes and designs, maybe it is the workmanship, the materials, the look. Whatever it is, man I do love knives all of a sudden.
Anyway, yesterday I decided I wanted one or two new knives.
There were some old west style knives Bass Pro Shop carried for some time. I went to buy one or two yesterday and they were out, and they weren't going to carry them again. I waited too long:banghead:
Well, I also wanted a Ka-bar. I am a history buff, and I've especially been "into" WWII history since I was in elementary school. The Ka-bar, in addition to being a good general purpose knife, is a piece of history. Anyway, everyone carries Ka-bar so I didn't think there would be a problem. Well, Bass Pro was out (only had the short knife) and when I went to Chesapeake Knife & Tool they were out too (they had the newer stainless version with the black polymer grip).
Well, I did pick up a Gerber AR 3.00 BBS. It really is a nice knife. I'd prefer a straight edge instead of serrations, but I can live with serrations. It is comfortable, extremely smooth to open, and fits my hand well. I also like the looks, and I really like the looks of the blackened blade.
Then last night I stop by Chesapeake Knife & Tool at the local mall and some items were on sale. I really do love my Kershaw knives and I especially like the "speedsafe" feature. I picked up a Matte Black Leek, the knive that they claim is exclusive to CKT. Anyway, the prices at the store must be different than online. The online price shows as $79.99, the "regular" price at the store was a few dollars more, but I got it on sale (50%) and got it for $42! This one fits really well as well, I love the speedsafe opening, and I love the all matte black look. I really like this knife a lot. It will probably become my knife that gets the most carry time (with the Gerber mentioned earlier probably becoming a close second).
Anyway, I think I have enough folders for now. There are a few nice ones I'd like soon, but I'm probably going to wait a couple months. However, there are still some fixed blades that I plan to get soon.
In addition to the Ka-bar that nobody had in stock yesterday (I may order one online), I keep finding myself coming back to these. I really like the look of some of those Marttiini knives (from Finland). Does anyone know anything about that company? How good are they? Anyway, the ones I want are the top two, the Marttiini Commemorative Lynx and the Marttiini Bronze Bird.
