The more recent offering from CAI actually isn’t a CAI.

Its internals are CETME surplus with a PTR barrel and lower receiver/trigger group.

I got one back in 2016 and it’s been perfectly reliable.

I’m guessing they’re not available anymore.
The one I bought was almost 20 years ago.

By battle rifles I assume that you mean mostly civilian versions of rifles that may have been issued to a military. I am not sure what qualifies. I guess my M44 qualifies. I had a Garand but sold it and a AR-15 carbine.

Two factors play out:
--- People think you won't actually pull a trigger -- but do think that you will very likely stick them with that knife.
--- Naked blades evoke a non-proportional visceral fear by their simple existence in a physical confrontation.

Never short sell the value of a 4-ft stabbing spear in what can become closing contact.

.

I've found this to be true even in actual combat, in a war torn country like Iraq.
Granted, the Arabs have a blade culture, but it's also just a silly human thing I guess.
I noticed this mostly against civilians like insurgents, and the like. (as opposed to military targets like "uniformed armies")
They have a mindset of "He wouldn't dare shoot me."
At the same time, whenever I would produce a fixed blade knife, (even just for show) I would gain immediate compliance... every single time.

Below is a rifle I gifted to my dad. This 03A3 made its way through the old DCM program and when my dad passed away in 99 the rifle reverted back to me. As a Marine the 03A3 was the rifle he trained with at Parris Island before deploying to the South Pacific island hopping campaign.

For me it was USMC boot camp 1969 when I was issued my first M14 rifle. Much as I would love an M14 I really have enjoyed my early M1A. Pictured in the foreground.

When I got to Vietnam in 72 it was an M16 so as close as I get are my Colt SP1 rifles. Pictured on the left.

Finally comes along my two M1 Garand rifles.

Missing is a cherry Springfield Trapdoor I let get away over 20 years ago. :(

What cartridge does the AR in the background behind the M1A shoot and what is that sight setup? I'm guessing it's a competition gun? Very interesting sight setup. Is it a match grade rifle?

The rifle is my early Armalite AR10.

The sights are Centra Rifle Sights. Free floated handguard with a 26" match barrel. I also have a scope base and the original open sights but the rifle was shot as pictured above. Chambered in .308 Winchester. The rifle is about 25 years old now. :) Last match I shot with it was maybe 5 or 6 years ago. :) I always enjoyed shooting that rifle and while my match days have fallen off I still enjoy getting that rifle to the range.
