I have a hard time understanding the pricing of MAK-90's I frequently hear people saying things along the lines of "if you can get it for under $1k it's a deal." but on armslist I see most going for $700-$1000 and in my home state of CO I see people asking $1,500.00 so maybe I'm just missing out on something but what makes certain mak's worth more than others. I picked up 2 for less than $400 each and recently paid $750 for a type 56 folder that was converted during the ban to a mak 90 butthole stock.

Well, with the cruddy US made Century's going for 7-800 and the virtual cutoff off any new Russian guns, many people are willing to pay a premium for the Chicom AKs with their forged parts, chromed bores, and heavy duty stampings. I paid $900 for my NHM90 and feel lucky at that.

I agree with you. I usually look up selling prices on Gunbroker. The Mak-90 brings about what you are saying.

The only exceptions are ones that have been converted to the "normal looking" AK and are using the orginal Chicom wood stocks.

i am sure glad i bought mine for 189.00 $ back in 1994 :D put about 400 rounds so far threw is perfect never had a hiccup, bolt carrier group look looks like a dull chrome metal really nice quility took the original stock off and put a Russia paratrooper folder on in 1996

Seems like AK's START in the $650 range nowadays, which is about $350 more than any of them are worth in my opinion.

AKs never came back down like ARs did. Mind boggling to me.

Pre craziness prices. Not like the racks of $150 AKs like in the 80s, when the racks of SKS's were $70, but nice compared to today's crazy AK prices.

AK's in general are overpriced. All of them. For what you get, even the "premium" ones should be $600 tops. Then again, most of the AR's on the market are overpriced too. So are Mini 14's and M1A's. So are....

hes trolling and jealous;)
I've had 3 others, an NHM91, Maadi MISR, and an M70b1. Never had a mechanical issue with any of them. In fact, once I removed the stupid aftermarket buffer from my current Norinco, Ive never so much as had a jam or misfire with any of them over, oh, maybe 6-7000 rounds total.

Accuracy has been somewhere between so-so and stellar. Sure wish I had that long-barrelled 91 back!

so you got a milled one?

No, I got a 1982 essentially unissued/all matching M70B1 Zastava metal parts kit with a veteran furniture set featuring original Serbian trench art markings on a early 1.6mm NDS receiver. Blows the MAK away by actually functioning and IMHO having much interesting history than being a gun made simply for selling to Gringos.

The bolt and carrier on my M70b1 were "in the white" as far as I could tell, built with a Zastava receiver, Green Mt. Barrel, with the Century trigger group and poly stocks. Despite being a frankengun, it ran perfectly. Supposedly, Century contracted with a machine shop in Texas for those bolts and they were top-notch. Wish they used 'em in those abominable RAS47s......o_O

I have a milled MAK and it runs great. I put a stock set on it from Ironwood Designs and it looks way better now than it did. I even have the original 500 brass-cased rounds that were provided with it.

It’s time and the effect on supply and demand. I have paid $2.99 for a chop beef brisket sandwich, fries and a cold beer but it was in the last century.

Heck I remember after the re-election of Obama and then Sandy-hook, people were paying $2000 for $650 AR’s and $100 for $12 plastic mags.

Don’t let stupid drive your buying decisions and pay attention to them for your selling ones.

I’ll admit to selling a Dillon 650 on eBay for over $1,800 during the “panic”. Had a new 1050 to replace it in 3 weeks for less money.

I had bought a jersey legal zastava m70 for $300.00 right before the panic and sold it for $900.00 during the panick, those days were insane.
I'm glad there is not something I'm missing out on, seems like I got ok deals considering the prices. I just can't for the life of me figure out why armslist has several MAK's in my own state with $1,500.00 asking price, it's not like we are an AWB state, I'd understand if this was jersey, or cali but I can buy a brand new arsenal for that price. (arsenal is over priced too IMHO)
