I think people who open carry are ignorant. It makes you more vulnerable not safer.
You are aware this is a firearms forum, right? Not sure where some of you currently reside, but even in my liberal side of this state, OC is not uncommon at all, and I'm pretty sure most of the folks I see engaging in this practice are (1) not ignorant, (2) have some training and (3) seem to be OCing in a responsible manner (i.e., low-key, decent rig choice, not in-your-face, not trying to draw attention, etc.).

What I do consider ignorant is labeling someone who's made a choice to practice something that is perfectly legal, especially without knowing them, or their motives. That's the kind of crap we expect from the other side. We can do better.

I'm probably overthinking this matter, but...

1. I don't open carry. It is illegal in the municipality in which I live and I am not a boat rocker for no reason. I am not a active sworn lawman in my state, so unless I perceive threat, I tend to leave it alone.

2. Accustoming rank and file citizens to the 'normality' of regular people owning and carrying guns is likely a good thing to happen.

Bit of a quandary.
