Marine Robbing Liquor Store Caught on Tape

Last Updated:

A Camp Pendleton Marine who is suspected of armed robbery is recovering after he was shot by a clerk at an Oceanside liquor store.

Surveillance video from the robbery Saturday night at Big Liquor on Redondo Drive showed Lance Corporal McKenzie Smith, 20, as he held up the store with a gun.

One of the clerks then pulled out his own gun and shot Smith.

Smith was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The clerks were not injured.

We had the Army smugglers a couple of weeks ago, and then this.

To me this is a bad shoot. The bg was on his way out and the clerk was not injured. This is a time you become a real good witness and call the police. What if the clerk missed? The marine could have returned fire and killed the clerk. No, I don't think he should have fired.

And that is exactly why crime continues!!!
Don't hurt the bad guy, he'e done. Let the police handle it.
B.S!!
Until criminals pay for their crimes, they will continue to commit them.

What if this armed criminal was allowed to get away and the clerk was just a good witness instead of shooting him,
Then the criminal robbed and shot one of your family members?

How would you feel about being a good witness then?

Good shoot!

You don't commit armed robbery and get the privilege that you won't be harmed, even when you are running away from the scene of the crime. Plus, this marine will still be a threat to society even after this crime was over, as he would probably commit more crimes. Next time an innocent could be harmed.

The only thing bad about this shoot is that the perp suffered non-life threatening injuries. The store clerk needs something more potent.

Man, he picked the wrong store. He should have gone to Hill Street Booze. Both the clerks wound up being armed and the security cam was panning a little to follow the action so someone was watching him there too. These guys were ready.

I'm sure he's headed for a dishonorable/bad conduct discharge. He'll probably get 4 or 5 years for the liquor store gig, but the other is going to follow him for the rest of his days.

I always feel a little pride when you see headlines that say "Marine done good", but I don't think I can share this scum ball's shame...hope he gets what he deserves.

I have spent MANY a dollar there.:) MOST of the businesses in Oceanside are owned by retired Marines. You don't mess with the townies.

The bg was on his way out and the clerk was not injured.

The fellow was still armed, and there was absolutely nothing keeping him from turning and blasting the clerk on his way out. You're still in imminent peril even as the mugger is leaving. Unless the guy throws his firearm down, shoot back at your earliest opportunity. That may be when he turns to leave. It's not about playing fair, it's about living on.

Yeah one of the clerks grabbed the gun and pulled it away but the his back was to the other clerk who did the shooting so it's quite possible the clerk doing the shooting didn't know the guy was disarmed until after the fact.
Good or bad shoot legality aside, if you don't want to get shot DON'T ROB PEOPLE.

This dirt bag should be darn thankful that the clerks didn't finish that which he had started.

Ok, I'm wrong. I did not watch the video, but just from the story it was an after the fact shooting.

whose tag line says "thieves should consider being shot an occupational hazard"? appropriate here.
