I just bought a very nice 45-70 guidegun, but It seems I didn't notice at the shop the sights are not centered on the gun both the dovetail for the rear and the front.

Now Im gonna switch the sights out for an xs rail and peep, but what Im wondering, is this the way Marlin ships there guns?

Should I send it back for a barrel that has the correct hole and dovetail placement?

This is kinda funny.

Mike

My Guide Gun wasn't like that and I also added an XS lever rail, ghost ring and front site. How far off are the rear dovetail and the front site screw holes? Are they aligned with each other but not with the top of the receiver? If it's noticeably off I'd send it back since the XS rail and front site won't fix the problem. If you plan on keeping the rifle for years to come, why settle for sights that may never work properly. I sent a Marlin 1894 back due to a bad barrel and Marlin did an excellent (and fast) job of installing a new one.

Does the barrel need to be turned a little further .......or is it allready turned in to far?

If the sights are leaning to the right you could get the barrel indexed by tightening it in.....if they are leaning to the left it's not so easy..

Thanks for the info guys Im gonna call Marlin on monday.

Thanks Mike
