I just put a Brockman peep sight on a Marlin 336Y, and using the factory front sight, the point of impact is about 9-10" high at 25 yards. This is with the rear peep adjusted to its lowest position. The big variance in POA vs POI is probably because of the barrel contour, short barrel length, and higher rear sight.

So I need to order an aftermarket front sight to correct the sight plane. I estimate that I need a sight that sits about 10-12mm above the existing front site. Brownells stocks 1) a Brockman front sight that measures 9.8mm from top of sight to top of dovetail, and 2) an XS sight that measures .6" high from top to bottom.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I checked Brownell's and XS' web sites and didn't see any, but XS sells (at least used to) what they call "test posts" - plastic temporary front sight posts that are scored in 0.05" height increments. Slip it into the base, center the rear elevation, then shoot, clip off a section, shoot, etc. Each time you clip off a section, the POI comes up. When it's close (and there'll be one obviously right height), measure it and order a permanent post the same height. XS has them in more heights than 0.6", in the same 0.05" increments as the test posts. I've done this on several rifles, and other than the delay in ordering the permanent sight, it's great.

Over at realguns.com they have a sight height calculator, enter your info and it tells you how much adjustment you need, you should be able to figure out what height front sight you need.....

You might want to call Brockmans. I'm sure they could steer you in the right direction.
