I picked up a Marlin MR-7 in 30-06 made in 1996 today. It has a walnut stock that is in excellent condition. The gun overall is in excellent shape with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9-40 from the same era, bought new together. This was the first year of production I believe and they were discontinued in 1999. Did require a bit of cleaning but it is a neat gun, Designed to compete with the Remington 700, the Winchester 70, The Ruger M77 and the Browning BAR by copying parts from each, but the timing was terrible with everyone else going to synthetic stock about that time. Only made it 25-06, 270 and 30-06 I believe.

30-06 is one of my favorite calibers. Great looking rifle.

I remember when those came out. Lots of nice features, but I don't think I've read any reports on how well they actually shoot. Would be interested to hear about that. Get back with us after you get a chance to shoot it some.
