I read a thread last week that was chock full of advice from nearly every respondent to a college student to enroll in an Appleseed event. Admittedly, although having heard of them, I've never been to one. Never even considered it. Well, after going to their website to see what they're all about, I've changed my mind. Over the weekend, I recounted the contents of the post to my wife (who also enjoys shooting) and told her about the Appleseed project. When I asked her if she might be interested in attending one, her face lit up and she said, "I'd LOVE to do that."

As I've said before ... I'd marry her, if I wasn't already married.

My wife was the NC State Ladies Trap champion when she was a mere 16. She would not touch a gun now to save her life. She used to hunt, too.

One time I asked, "Did you ever go dove hunting." "Yes" "Did you get your limit." "Yes" "How many shots did it take you." I get quizzical look "12"

Doh!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife does have her CHL but does not enjoy shooting, to her its a tool and practice is something she must doe to protect herself. The plus side is if I say I want to go shoot at the range or go hunt she always says ok baby, have fun! So she is a good one too!

Follow up and go do it.

My wife and I went to an Appleseed event back when we were dating. Excellent bonding experience.

My wife doesnt like loud noises. So when she yells at me I say "I thought you dont like loud noises"
No it doesnt work out well for me.
Luckily my daughter goes to the range with me. She is 8y/o and so far she is a crack shot with the Ruger 22/45 and 10/22 at 25yds. Almost a waist of her targets, just the center are gone.

Good for you PGS, your a lucky man.

This thread brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. My wife loved guns almost as much as I do. <deleted> cancer. She is a tought act to follow.

Mike

PS. Sam's edit makes it look like I actually used the word. I used symbols to imply the word. I now know that is off limits here and won't do it again.

Mine comes, occasionally. Shes happy to shoot .22s all day long (she had a pink stainless 10/22) and will pick up a shotgun for a few shots. I appreciate that she chooses to take an interest in what would otherwise be my hobby.

We've definitely decided to do it. There's one coming up in October in Sparta, IL, which is about 50 miles south of us. We won't be able to make that one, but we'll keep looking, probably in the spring next year.

Good to know there are others who share my fortune.

Sorry for your loss, too, Mike.

The only thing my wife will have to do with going shooting is holding the door open for me as I'm carrying stuff to the truck. She's happy for the free time.

Another Wife who Shoots

My wife and I will be married 10 years in October. I knew I had a "winner" when we were dating. When her birthday was approaching, I asked her, "What do you want for your birthday?"

She said, "I want a fly rod, but I want you to build it for me."

So I did. A year later, we were engaged, and again I asked her, "What do you want for your birthday?"
She said, "I want a deer rifle."

I took her up the hill to my LGS, and we bought her a Ruger 77 lightweight, in .243.

My wife is 35 years younger than I, and right after we got married, she said, "You're not getting any younger, and I want a son."

This month, I am 67 and she is 32, and on Sept. 6th she presented me with twins - a girl and a boy. It's my fourth daughter (3 by previous marriage) and my first son. Now I just have to stick around long enough to teach that boy how to use a fly rod and a rifle. - But if I can't, I know she will. I am a very lucky man.

Wouldn't that be better stated as "if WE weren't already married?" :D

Congratulations to both of you, there is nothing finer than being married to your shooting partner (even if she can outshoot you :D - and mine can).
