Ok so I tracked down a Marlin Camp 45 for myself but unfortunately it's in Maine and I'm in Maryland. Pretty much every FFL in my general area seems to want to charge $40+ for a transfer even if it's non regulated ( another $10 for a regulated one). So who is a decent FFL in the Baltimore area who will do transfers?

Hmmmm...I wonder if our On Target memberships get us a discount on transfers?

Well I called On Target to find out if they did transfers and well they do for $100 :what: and they won't offer any discounts for members! :cuss:

THAT'S HORRIBLE!!!!

Select Fire used to do a lot of transfers, but I can't stand the guy that's always in there...real jerkoff....

You and I know all of the same places, so I suppose there's no use rattling off the list of our fave places......

I did meet a guy over at AR15.com named Ron who works at Bart's. Seemed like a really cool guy....Norton and I met him and a bunch of other AR15.com guys for beers one night. Maybe you could talk to him and see if he can work any kind of deal.

anapex,

It may be a bit far for you, but I can't recommend Vincent (d.b.a. Gideon Gun Sales) highly enough. He's in Bel Air & does business out of his house. Honest, friendly... just a heck of a nice guy in general. Charges $20 for transfers + any State costs (for regulated firearms - handguns, EBRs, etc.)

Here's his web page:

http://www.gideongunsales.com/

Shoot him an e-mail. Well worth the drive.

One of the few regrets I have about leaving Maryland is leaving Vincent behind... and having to find someone in Southern York County to take his place. I've done a lot of business with him over the last couple of years. Love to see some of my THR friends "pick up the slack." :)

anapex,

I'm trying to track down a decent shop in the Baltimore Metro area preferably in Glen Burnie. I spoke with someone at A & D Pawn in Glen Burnie just a few minutes ago. Their number is 410-766-7357. I was quoted 40.00 + 10.00 MSP fee for an AR15 lower +TAX! I don't understand where the tax comes in since I'm not buying it from them , they are only being used for the transfer.

The price for a transfer on the Marlin Camp carbine is 40.00 from them.

I'm still looking around so if I find a reasonably priced dealer I'll post it. BTW,what part of the state are you in? It would be silly to find a cheap dealer half way across the state as any savings would be lost either in time or gasoline(not to mention convenience).

mdshooter,

Thanks so much for you tip on Gideon Gun Sales. It is not too inconvenient a drive to get to that part of the state and I have never heard of him. I'll make sure I check him out and tell him how I found out about him.

Ham Hock,

Glad to help. Give him a little time to respond... he drives a truck by day and turns into a gun-transferring super hero by night. Sometimes his day job keeps him pretty busy. Be patient... he WILL call or e-mail you in due course. Definitely worth being patient. Tell him Dale sent you. Again - he's a real stand-up guy.

Crazy: I'm actually not to far from you, I'm just over in Pasadena. A&D, Bart's, and Scott's are all in the 40-50 range for transfers. Which completely stinks cause they're some of the closest. I haven't checked with Arundel and there's no way I'm gonna ask Select Fire, I really don't even like to step foot in there anymore let alone talk to anyone there.

Everyone else, thanks for the help. I've got a couple leads for stuff in Westminster so I'll probably go with them unless I can get something closer. Besides if I pick it up in Westminster Hap Baker isn't too far away :)

A friend of mine highly recommends:

NSK Sales
410-883-2100

Ask for Neil. They're located up in Boring, MD, but he's a real friendly guy, and reasonable rates, too. He does a lot of reloading, so if you're into that, he'll probably give you the ideal load for the Camp Carbine too...

No matter who you do the transfer through, you'd better bring it to the next THR shoot!

I could Harry but the one I would get it transfered to is in the town my parents are in which is roughly 220 miles away. Just cheaper and faster for me to get it shipped to my area.
