Does anyone know what would happen if I put a 10mm or .357 Sig Mech Tech upper on a Glock 17 lower? I know it would feed right, but would it create massively increased wear compared to a 9mm Mech Tech upper?

Also anyone know if a Mech Tech 1911 upper would fit a Rock Island Armory .45?

Anything in general, good or bad, to say about the Mech Tech products feel free to chime in. There doesn't seem to be much info out there.

I found out that the 10mm/.45 uppers are interchangeable with eachother and only eachother and same for the 9mm/.40/.357 sig.

So let me rephrase my question: Will putting a Glock 17 lower on a .357 Sig Mech Tech upper increase wear dramatically?

BTW if a mod wants to move this to the autoloader section so it gets more views, be my guest.

about the Carbine Conversions

what MATTERS is is the first rule of safety is:
the caliber of the AMMUNITION IN THE MAGAZINE is equal to the CALIBER MARKED OF/FOR THE CCU

AND

That you use the proper magazine for the caliber.

example:

take a Glock17 (9mm)

Place it on a CCU for .40
Place a magazine for .40 caliber for the glock in it, with amunition that is .40
and you have a G-17 lower with a .40 CCU upper (make sure its for a GLOCK).

EVERY CCU is for a spesific caliber and make of firearm. so ytou cannot take lets say a CCU for a .45 (1911) model and think you can use your Glock in .45 caliber to fit it.

in the example of the G-17 i gave, you have a G-17 with 9mm mags; .40 mags. and TWO CCU's for the prospective calibers THAT ARE MENT FOR GLOCKS ONLY.
then you have ONE lower that can fire both the .40 and 9mm provided that you follow what i wrote at the top.

dont try to force your GLOCK on the CCU in any manner....do NOT place a CCU ment for larger frame on smaller lower or vise versa

Depends on the age of your frame. If there are only 2 pins to detail strip it, I'd use 9mm only. If it's a 3-pin frame, then it is identical in every way, to a .357, .40, or .45 GAP frame. The only difference is the ejector. You'd want to buy a .357/.40 ejector (or just a whole trigger junk housing).

Also, FWIW, in the .40 Glocks, the slide and barrel wear out before the frame do, just like 9mms.

it might depend on the generation of glock too. my buddy's gen 3 slidefrom his glock 22 would not fit on my g17 1st gen gun, but my slide would fit on his frame. (we didn't try to fire either way)

I had a 1911 CCU for a while, but the design put the trigger in a very awkward position. I eventually ditched it for that reason.

NOTE: The .357 Sig is a bottle-neck cartridge and the brass is highly worked in the CCU blowback action. Use only factory fresh ammo - reloading can result in case separation!

Bullpup:

The G20 is larger frame than that of the G17. im unsure frame size for the 357 suto. so do NOT even try to get large/medium frames mixed up.
again: the 10mm frame is larger than the 9mm.

Hello,
I have had a MT CCU in .45acp for about three years. IT WORKS GREAT !!!! It fits my Para Ordnance Limited , my Colt Gold Cup , my Colt Delta Elite and a custom ParaOrd ---- ALL the frames fit with no problem. My CCU has the factory rib/iron sights and I have done head shots at 100 yards offhand. I have used it , with the Para frame for local 3 Gun Matches and it works 100% with ANY factory ammo and most all my reloads. The only thing I wish it had is a last round hold open. I have been keeping my eye open for a used CCU in 10mm -- I know, good luck!!!

10 mm MTS CCU with a 45 cal. 1911 reciever

Hi Guy's & Girl's;

I have a 10 mm Mech-Tech Systems, CCU that I use with my Colt Delta Elite. The Delta Elite is Bar-Sto fitted with a custom Bar-Sto 10 mm barrel and is a tack driver and my MTS, CCU has been totally reliable and I have it fitted with a NcStar, 45 mm Red Dot sight which makes it very fast to aquire and hit a target.

Now I would like to buy a complete 1911 reciever to dedicate to the CCU so that I can carry both at the same time without having to change over and I see no difference in the 1911 frame other than possibly the ejector size and position. I do not currently own a 1911-A1 other than my Delta Elite so I haven't been able to try it out and I don't want to buy another complete Delta Elite just for the CCU.

Does anyone know for sure if a 1911-A1, 45 ACP reciever will function correctly on the 10 mm CCU?

Thanks, and have a great week everybody. Regards, Dan.

Is Mech-Tech out of business?

Hi Guy's and Girl's;

I have a suspicion that Mech-Tech Systems Inc. may be out of business. I say this because all of my attempts to contact them by phone and e-mail have failed so far so I don't know what else to think.

Have a great week everybody. Regards, Dan.

I was wrong about Mech-Tech Systems Inc.

I am in error. Mech-Tech Systems Inc. are still in business. They are alive and well, I just didn't understand how to get in touch with them on the phone. You call and leave your number and they call you back when there able. There e-mail does not work however but in all fairness I have found that the kind of e-mail service they use doesn't work on a lot of different web sites and it's infuriating to write an e-mail and then get an error message and loose it after you've spent all of that time writing to them.

Oh well, have a great week everybody. Regards, Dan.

.45 frame on a 10 mm CCU

After talking to Frank at Mech-Tech Systems Inc. he assured me that I could indeed use a .45 cal. 1911 A-1 frame on my 10 mm carbine in place of my 10 mm Delta Elite. He also said that a 9 mm or 38 super frame probably would not work right however, I guess because of magazines.
Have a great week everybody. Regards, Dan.
