This is now typical of the Soviet-Amerikan political system. Where the
so-called left uses "shout downs" in public, the so-called right makes it a
formal close-out on paper.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The chairman of the Michigan Republican Party said Wednesday that he will try to bar Ron Paul from future GOP presidential debates because of remarks the Texas congressman made that suggested the Sept. 11 attacks were the fault of U.S. foreign policy.

Michigan party chairman Saul Anuzis said he will circulate a petition among Republican National Committee members to ban Paul from more debates. At a GOP candidates' debate Tuesday night, Paul drew attacks from all sides, most forcefully from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, when he linked the terror attacks to U.S. bombings.

<snip>

Jesse Benton, Paul's campaign spokesman, said the candidate "is supporting the traditional GOP foreign policy. I think it's a shame when people try to silence the traditional conservative Republican standpoint."

After the debate Tuesday, Paul said he didn't' expect his remarks to end his campaign.

"The last time I got a message out about my position on the war it boosted us up by tens of thousands and I didn't change my position," Paul said. "I think the American people are sick and tired of this war and want it ended."

Of course, this is not the first time the political-media machine has kept
candidates out.

Where the old USSR had a One Partiya system, the US has a Two-Headed
Partiya system and both those heads talk about "reasonable gun control."

Paul is the only candidate who has consistently spoke in support of the
Second Amendment.

Wow- There I was not just an hour ago predicting they would try to legally force Paul out of the race and here we are already.

Does not take a genius to see the big threat the truth holds to the repubs.

Ron Paul's problem is not that he was wrong, it's that he was too right for an audience that doesn't have time for long complicated answers. Add in a little spin by the right wingers and presto, the neocons have a new boogeyman.

pcosmar --good job on finding the petition. As a related aside, when I channel
surfed onto Rush while driving yesterday, he said that there was an "online
spam campaign" supporting and defending Ron Paul. Just goes to show how his
machine whines while running in high gear and under the crack of the whip.

I know how this stuff works because the same thing happened with a relative
of mine in local politics when he didn't 100% comply with the GOP --he was too
conservative! This resulted in money being pulled from campaigns (yes, more
than one over the years) and local media propaganda.

We can see this beginning to really get nasty with Ron now since he isn't losing
natural momentum among real conservative Americans.

Here is a way to email Saul Anuzis, the offender in this attempt at suppressing Ron Paul's views.

I was polite, but expressed the idea that I was offended by his behavior which I consider destructive to the GOP.

Okay, well that's pretty lame. It's like wanting to take your ball and go home. But what's frustrating is that now all the nutcases on here think they've been vindicated for everything they've said. :)

If they weren't scared, they wouldn't be trying to ban Ron from the debates.

Regardless of whether he wins, he's certainly stirring the pot, perhaps to the extent that some of the citizens will finally wake up from their sleep.

I'm not sure about who I like in the Republican Primary so far, pretty much no one. But I don't think censorship is acceptable at all and I think that every candidate should be judged by the people based on their based on their principals and ideas.

Hell, I'll even sign it.

I don't think Ron Paul is presidential material, but I think he oughta be heard, and given the opporunity to shove his foot into his mouth, because at least half the time he's saying things that need to be said.

It's just a damned shame he beclowned himself.
