MI GOP Leader Wants to BAN Ron Paul from Debates

Ah, here it is, Rush accusing our collective effort of individual real American
Conservatives as nothing more than "spammers":

Limbaugh also discussed why Paul was at the top or near the top of many interactive polls, explaining the congressman has many loyal supporters who are "spamming" Internet surveys with their votes for Paul. He also says media outlets are being flooded with messages from the Paul campaign.

Interesting exchange:

Limbaugh's remarks came today during his analysis of last night's GOP presidential debate in South Carolina, as a caller urged Rush to throw his support behind Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, as the caller claimed Paul was the most conservative of the field of candidates.

"I don't think Congressman Paul has a snowball's chance," Limbaugh said.

"You have the power yourself to make him the Republican nominee," the caller responded.

"That is very true, and that is why I must exercise this power responsibly, not as a cheerleader," said Limbaugh, "which is why I'm not picking a name right now. I alone have the power to move the [Republican] base."

LOL....not you, Rush, those who pay you. Let's not get confused ;)

Regardless of whether he wins, he's certainly stirring the pot, perhaps to the extent that some of the citizens will finally wake up from their sleep.

I hope so.

This is total BS, The man is is flawless, everthing he says makes perfect sense.

Completely ridiculous. Say you are removing Ron Paul because he makes all the other candidates feel threatened, thats the honest truth.

This strikes me as a funny example of unintended consequences.

The public is sure to perceive this attempted ban as a suppression of political expression and draw even more attention to Dr. Paul. The consequences of Saul Anuzis effort, if it turns out to be successful, would be even more earth shattering.

I think the same thing happened to Giuliani when he threw his fit at the debate and demanded to have 30 seconds to confront Dr. Paul. It just drew more attention to Dr. Paul and showed how woefully uninformed Giuliani was about foreign policy as compared to Dr. Paul. As a result Ron Paul got a significant interview by Wolf Blitzer on CNN the next day, not to mention all the press reports of the confrontation.

The disparity between the CNBC debate poll and what the total silence by the media about Ron Paul just got the internet buzzing about how big money and the media are trying to control who we vote for.

Hannity's argumentative interview of Dr. Paul after the 2nd debate probably did more for Dr. Paul than if the interview would have been polite. And FOX could not have pulled two more weird looking "experts" out of the sewer to pronounce that Ron Paul's candidacy was dead as a result of his 9/11 statement.

Let us hope that the efforts at suppressing this candidacy continue in earnest.

Signed. I'm still waiting for the moderators to ask a good gun control question to the republicans. We have heard very little about it from any of the candidates in the format.

Tuesday, when Romney said, "First of all, there's no question that I support Second Amendment rights, but I also support an assault weapon ban. " I would have loved to have some follow up questions on that and hear a candidate passionately defend gun rights.

They asked Romney who said he supported the "second ammendment and the AWB". :what: :banghead:

But what's frustrating is that now all the nutcases on here think they've been vindicated for everything they've said.

Tim James, do you care to expound that statement?

If what we have been saying has come to pass, and you still don't see it for for what it is, who then is the nutcase?

Isn't there a story about fiddling and dancing while Rome burned?

Titan6, that's exactly what I'm talking about. No follow-up, at all they let him slide on it. He says there is "no question" he supports the second amendment and he didn't get asked to explain what he means by that or justify his stance in any way. I know there is a time constraint but as far as I know this is really one of the only instance guns have been brought up in the Republican debates and it lasted all of 10 seconds.

You are probably right on that. However these debates are supposed to be directed at primary voters so I would hope to see it brought up a little more. Since it seems to be a non-issue I won't hold my breath.

paco, just referring to how people have spouted off a bunch of conspiracy theories over this, one has come true, and there may be a tendency to say "SEE! I TOLD YOU SO!" about everything. (Note that key word in my statement.) I just want to let it play out and not have to hear about it anymore.

I should just stop reading this thread and let you guys have your fun though. ;) Game on!

Here is a quote from http://studentsforpaul.org/whats_happening_michigan_gop

I just spoke with a friend who knows the people who work in the Michigan GOP office. He said the office "can't handle the volume" and "don't know what to do". Saul Anuzis's blackberry is flooded with messages, his voicemail is already full, and Ron Paul supporters are starting to find new phone numbers to reach him.

They are totally freaked out. He told me "they decided to stop answering the phones for the rest of the day because right when they hung up with one Ron Paul supporter the phone started to ring with the next. They couldn't get any work done". And "Saul has turned off his blackberry because he couldn't handle the overload".

He kept telling me how surprised they were at the amount of people calling and emailing. They didn't know what was going on or who was behind it all. Total shock.
:D

This is what happens when the "leadership" is completely out of touch with the
people it considers its base. MI GOP has a hard enough time as it is in a state with
it's rival big old Donkey base without its own "leadership" making bone-headed
statements at a national level.
