As I've tried to explain in a previous posting here (or was it another forum?), Ron Paul is a terrible candidate and should be excluded from future GOP debates because he is such a NON factor, and frankly because he's a loon. I have classical libertarian roots, but this guy goes WAY too far.

See this article from Politico.

Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Ron Paul, said the country is in "great danger" of the U.S. government staging a terrorist attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation, as the war in Iraq continues to deteriorate.

The Texas congressman offered no specifics nor mentioned President Bush by name, but he clearly insinuated that the administration would not be above staging an incident to revive flagging support.

Frankly, this guy is an embarrassment to libertarians, and everyone who votes for him in his district. This is just further evidence Paul has gone off the reservation and another more worthy pro-2a candidate should be considered. If anyone really thinks he would do ANYTHING in the general election (other than cost another serious candidate a victory) you are probably as whacky as he is. Comments like these are not going to play well to the general public.

If you read the article further, he even defends the Iranians.

Comments like these are not going to play well to the general public.

Comments like yours, painting Dr. Paul as a nutcase also do not play well with this forum, where there are a large number of Ron Paul supporters.

From the article said:
Paul was asked to respond to comments by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a provocation of an enemy similar to the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 before the Vietnam War.

Nowhere do I see what he actually said in response to these comments. I don't see how you (or the article) can conclude he thinks the government is going to stage an attack soon.

Also, fast200, upon listening to the cited interview, it becomes apparent that Ron Paul neither stated nor insinuated that the government is staging an attack. The "article" is nothing more than yellow journalism, or possibly libel.

Also, every post of yours Fast in the political section goes something like this: I'm a libertaian, but Ron Paul is a nut because (Insert supposed conspiracy theory that Ron Paul is ranting about)
