Just wanted THR's opinion on this. I orderd a CZ "Factory" .40 S&W 12 round magazine from Midway. What I got was a Mec-Gar in a generic plastic zip lock bag with a CZ part number pasted on. . . . . which I paid $40.49 for plus shipping.

Most folks know you can buy Mec-Gars a lot of places for $20.00 - $27.00.

Did I get snookered? I feel like it.

I'll bet someone screwed up with a label maker. Midway is a pretty stand-up place, I'm sure they'll make it right.

Call them and ask...For crying out loud...I have been doing business with them going on 20 years and they have never failed to correct an error on their part...So call them!!

I think that Mec-Gar makes the OEM CZ mags. Yea, I think that Academy usually has them.

I have been doing business with Midway for several years now.
The only time I had a problem they corrected it even though it was the shippers fault. They replaced 1000 .380 bullets and a set of carbide dies free of charge.
I’ll order from them again.

Mec Gar makes mags for quite a few pistols.

My Sig P226 Navy came with three Mec Gars.

Midway is AOK.

FWIW:

Betcha' MegGar IS the manufacturer for CZ mags...

Actually it doesn't matter if it's factory or not, as far as performance is concerned. The MecGar is as good as, or better, than factory mags..

NEVER heard of anyone having a problem with MecGars..

Wanna talk crappy mags? ProMag... :barf:

Jesse

P.S. CDNN generally has good prices (and availability) on mags.

You didn't get screwed by Midway, you got screwed by CZ.

CZ mags are in fact Mec-Gar, and Midway sells both. You can buy them on Midway as CZ mags for $40 or as Mec-Gar mags for $25. Why in the world CZ thinks that the sticker is worth $15 is beyond me.

Mec-Gar makes, or has made the OEM mags for just about every firearms manufacture in the free world, including:

AMT, Armscor, Astra, Beretta, Bernadelli, FN Browning, Charles Daly, Colt, CZ, IMI, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Llama, NAA, Remington, Sigarms, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, STI, Standard Arms, Star, Steyr, Tanfoglio, Taurus, & Walther.

It is doubtful anyone at Midway has the time or inclination to set around repackaging magazines just to screw you!

I didn't say Midway screwed me intentionally, I just "felt like they did". I just recently started using MW, so I have no history with them like others do.

My dealings have been with Brownell's mostly, and the CZ Custom Shop through Angus, more recently. I know Mec-Gar's are good, I know Mec-Gar probably makes the mags for CZ, but I paid for a CZ factory mag, and got a Mec-Gar.

I am returning a Pro-mag I got on the same order back to MW, I'll mention the Mec-Gar/CZ factory thing. I'm keeping the Mec-Gar, but no one can argue I paid to much for it.

Midway A+

Perhaps someone else bought one, then returned (a different one) in the bag labeled with the one you want.

I have had nothing but positive results from Midway's customer service. They will make right anything that is wrong.

Don't EVER - EVER buy a PROMAG, they are complete JUNK! Buy FACTORY OEM whenever possible!

Since you're returning the Pro Mag, why not return the CZ mag. at the same time? The next time you place an order get the Mec-Gar.

Regardless of the name on the mag.

Keep it.

I have a factory standard capacity and several mec-gars for my 75B. They function exactly the same.

just to confuse things more.when a gun maker uses MecGar mags for it's pistols and says they are "factory mags" only those mags or replacements sold as "factory" can be warranted by the factory, even though it's the same mag. what they are saying is "we tested these,we didn't test those". jwr

Yep, Mec Gar is the factory mag for CZ. You ordered a factory mag, and you got a factory mag....
Not exactly. If you look closely, there are some very subtle differences between a CZ "fatory" mag, and a Mec-Gar.

Then there's the price difference. I intend to keep the mag, $13.00 is nothing to go to battle over.

Call Midway, they'll make good. I lost a part on a shooting rest they mailed me.

I called and asked for the part, and they sent an entire rest. :D

I appreciate the input from you guys. I feel confident this was a snafu, I know I'm not qualified to throw the first stone when it comes to making a mistake.

I'll return the Pro-mag (not MW's fault on this) and mention the Mec-Gar, CZ mag issue.

I can't tell the difference between my mags, 2 cz, 2 mecgar, CZ 75B-SA. Unless I like at the stamp that says what model they go to.

Both shoot great, gun is at 600 rounds no failures.

Midway A+

i have even screwed up and ordered the wrong item from midway. same due to my lack of studying up on what i really needed. the exchanged it for what i shouldda ordered, no questions....

Midway +1 also,

Replaced a tumbler after 6 mo

Digital scale replaced

On Monday, the UPS guy must of beeen pissed because all six boxes of bullets were broken inside the two main boxes, so when I opened them up there were 2K bullets rolling around the packing media. I called Midway and told them maybe ship in smaller boxes so the weight is less. The woman I spoke with gave me a $10.00 coupon off my next order and apologized.

I'm going back with them for sure.
