I really dont dislike Midway, they have a ton of stuff and usually in stock. What always kills me, and usually the sale, is when I get to the checkout page, and they try and rape you on shipping.

I was going to order a Wilson 1911 sear spring from them for $6.95. Not a great deal, but they have it and its only $7. "Until" you get to the check out page. Bottom line on the checkout page, $15.85!!! :cuss:

For those who dont know what a 1911 sear spring is, is a small, flat piece of metal that would fit in a small envelope. Screw Midway! :fire:

I then do what I should have done right at the start and just did a quick search. Wilson has them, same exact price (Midway didnt even discount them a couple of cents), and the total at checkout.... $7.37.

Hey, I guess if Midway can get it, good for them. They aint getting it from me though. Doom on them. :neener:

I will add that every time I order directly from Wilson Combat the parts arrive in a very carefully packed box and exactly what was ordered. It's clear their people care about what they are doing.

Midway gets it right but they must be using the cheapest bulk shipping services because it takes for-e-ver to arrive. But they do sometimes have things I want at a better price than others so I am ok waiting.

It happens...always will. I've stopped short of completing many orders from many sellers because of insane shipping charges, and have always found a better final price elsewhere.

Hats off to Midway for their no hassle handling of a recent issue (scope ring set missing a part)...they emailed a shipping label for free return. Got the replacement rings just yesterday.

Midways shipping department flat out sucks. And it has to be costing them. Maybe thats why thier shipping prices are so high. Were paying for damaged goods and ham fisted monkey food.

Ive had a number of orders where they packed somewhat fragile things like calipers, and heavy bullets, in the same box, and then threw in "one" air bubble packing. When I got it, the bullets had smashed the case the calipers came into pieces, and the bullet boxes were busted open, and there were loose bullets all over the inside of the box. When I call and bitched, they sent me new calipers and told me to keep the one I got. Which actually still worked, as it was the case that took the beating.

There were a couple of others just like that, and with the same result. They must replace a lot of what they sell.

That's why I keep a wish list at Midway. Stuff I'd like but don't need immediately goes on the list. I wait to place an order until something I want is on sale or they feature free shipping. A combined order will often get me over their free shipping threshold. Still, gotta check other retailers including Amazon before hitting that "Place My Order" button.

I don’t know, I don’t see $9 as being excessive for getting an item out of stock, packing it nicely in a box and paying tax and postage for shipping to me.
It doesn’t matter if the item it only 49¢ retail (or free), the labor and materials to ship are the same.
If you don’t want to pay shipping on that low dollar item you are just going to have to support your LGS and buy there. Of course your $6.95 part will probably be $18 at the LGS because he has to pay shipping and make a profit too.
5¢ Hershey bars are gone. Give it up. It’s only money.

I hold back for orders to wait for free shipping or free HazMat on powder/primer orders then stock up. I just ordered about 4K reloading bullets from X-Treem bullets because of the free shipping code I picked up at the NRA convention. (NRAXB23) just in case you need it.

I figured this out a while ago when I was looking to buy several new mags for the 1911s. Could not believe that Wilson did not charge any shipping at all, on top of having the same price as everyone else. Was able to get 5 for the price of 4 anywhere else online.

Where do you live? I just went and added a WC 1911 sear spring to my cart to see how much shipping would be (I'm in Alabama), shows shipping to be $8.00...no great, but not @ $16. There's an "Edit" button on the left column under shipping and you can choose which method you prefer according to cost.

I just paid 7.00 shipping to Brownells for a Marbles flip down rear sight for the Marlin 39A (I mounted a Williams peep and the stock sight is in the way). Shipping fees stink, but it is a cost of enjoying our hobby sometimes. :(

Stay safe.

I pay for Brownells Edge program every year and never worry about shipping costs. Even covers second day delivery.

I typically order from MIdway only after I get the "free shipping" e-mail. And generally buy the "on sale" or "clearance" stuff.

Long-time customer. While the prices aren't always the best, availability is the key thing for me. And a lot of the time, Midway has the stuff I need/want at the time.

I've also experienced awesome customer service by the company.

And I almost never complain about a business on the internet unless the situation is so egregious that I'm compelled to do so -- and then I've found Yelp and Google reviews get the best results. On-line discussion forums, not so much (although I know it feels good to vent sometimes).

Have you looked at the price of packing materials recently? And the price of fuel at the pump? And considering how the stuff is shipped to them, and literally every freight company I have seen in the last while are tacking on “fuel surcharges” etc… I don’t like paying it either, but… I look back a few years when the former mrs MacD and I were shipping furniture and stuff, and our budget for packaging and freight was… a lot…
