Anyone notice that working with MidwayUSA has gotten a bit rough around the edges over the past few months?

Allowing for holiday craziness etc ... I've been very surprised at a few things at Midway of late - had a conversation with a CS person today that was downright rude, and a followup with a second (just to get clarification) that was also pretty surly. I'd never encountered that at Midway before.

I'm just curious if other folks have run into any odd behavior at Midway lately. Some of the other things I've run into recently (over several transactions) include:
- added items to the cart, went immediately to checkout ... and the items are already "sold out, backorder OK." Guess someone was faster on the trigger than me, but two items in the same cart?
- shifting shipping rates for the same product (as in, standard shipping doubled for one product during the week).
- received a damaged pair of 1911 WWI repro grips. They sent a replacement, but it was the wrong item. Returned them both.
- paid for 2nd day, but item shipped ground. They declined to credit the difference.
- All my backordered items changed from having a specific anticipated available date, to unknown, no date at all (yes, that may be their suppliers, but seemed odd it hit everything in my cart ...
- Midway cancelled several backordered items last week as well.

I'd ordered a ton through Midway over the years. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a trend here with other folks as well, or whether my usual luck with on-line retailers now includes Midway  If there is a trend, I'd feel more comfortable sending the letter that I'm drafting to them, noting that they might have a growing problem. If not, I'll chalk it up to bad karma.

In the meantime, I did cancel several backordered items that did not get into their shipping system yet. If I use Midway again, it will be well after the holidays, if at all...

I've only had a few orders in the past few months. No issues, their usual crazy fast processing/shipping.

Didn't have any reasons to call them, so I can't comment there.

I would ask for a manager's email address so you could forward what you just posted to them. Maybe they need to address some customer service agents.

I've always had good luck with MidwayUSA. In fact just a month ago I received some backordered .22lr minimags and 75% of the plastic cases were broke or cracked. I worked with midway and they sent me 10 blue flip top boxes to store the ammo in at no charge.

I've noticed that over the past year or so, that their prices aren't nearly as good as they used to be - and their shipping methods, and costs, have also changed for the worse.

Bums me out, because I like supporting Missouri businesses......but they need to stop making CTD look good.

I have never had any problems with them. right stuff and on time.
hope it clears up for you. could have been the gods were mad at you that day.

CTD will never look good again. Last time I went to their website they were no longer selling arms or ammo.

When I compare prices, Midway USA usually loses out.
So, I don't get quite so deep in the purchasing process.

The only problem I ever had with them is their sending one box of bullets in
a bubble bag-----the bullets are still in the bag but the box is smashed.
& don't tell me to pay more for UPS as I did this & order came in bubble bag smashed.
now I wait to order more than one box--that works ( I get cardboard shipping box)

No problems here, I've ordered an AR upper and two shipments of ammo in the past couple weeks.

I haven't had to talk to customer service though.

Standard pricing and shipping rates are usually higher than many other online sites. I only use them if it's a sales item I'm interested in.

How long ago was that?

The length of time since they pulled that stunt isn't really the issue.

The issue is that they decided guns and ammo were bad and civilians shouldn't have them, and as a result pulled all sales.

They of course reversed course when people told them how stupid that was, but it was too late.

Charging $99 for an aluminum AR mag and $3k on a new Colt AR (and equally insane prices on all other mags and ammo) didn't help matters.

MidwayUSA.....

I've placed 2 orders from Midway USA in the last 60 days. Both times it was fast & error free. :D
They've lowered the S/H costs and improved the process; Nitro Express or some name.

The holidays can be stressful.
About 3 years ago, I ordered some uniform items from www.Galls.com . The order went out by FedEx and was screwed up.
Galls finally corrected the errors & gave me a big store credit.
These firms sometimes hire labor staff services or temp workers during busy periods. You might have dealt with some worker who won't even be there in Jan/2015.

I placed a order over the telephone on Wednesday, 12/10, and they promised delivery on Monday the 15th (today) by USPS. I skipped checking my mailbox on Saturday checking instead on Sunday and what the heck there was my order!

Shipping was $7.00.

placed an order with them last night, tracking number this a.m., expected delivery thurs...

never had a problem with Midway. I've placed close to a hundred orders over the past 6ish years.

I've ordered dozens of times and never needed customer service. My most recent order (ammo) was placed yesterday and it shipped today. I'll know in a few days if there are problems.
