If it's NATO or Warsaw Pact and goes bang ive fired it and carried quite a few of them

And this thread is now cursed because the dreaded song has been typed on it... It wont get out of my head...

Hey what are complaining about, at least you didn't have to sing the 82 ABN song...

Damn thought about that to type it...
damn errr.

Been issued a SAW, M16 and M4 before I reclassed, then reclassed and always had an M4. Shot about everything from 9mm to 50's.

Drilled with an M-14(?) in boot camp, heavy B@#$% to carry around for 2 months.
First qualification some type of .38 revolver in Great Lakes just after boot camp.
Qualified with 1911, Mossberg 12ga pump, M-16, M-9

Never carried any of them routinely.

Was part of a boarding team in the Gulf conducting inspection on merchant, carried the M-9. Others on the team carried a combination of 12ga pump, M-16, and M-9.

Also shot the M-60 mounted on the ship’s main deck at killer tomatoes.

It was real, and it was fun, but it wasn't real fun.

4. m9 (I love this as a close up gun with proper loads, but unfortunately 115gr FMJ only sucks in these, but I own a 92FS with 124gr +p+ HP's as my bedside gun), m24 (primary weapon) all I can say is the gun shoots better than you will be able to. m249 gets real heavy after having to lug this sucker around for hours. mark19 (fun to shoot, but don't ever hit the bolt release on accident because you will have a lot of work ahead of you), m4a2, m4a3

going back into the service in January, this time as an Army Reserve Officer (MI).

3. ~5 years, active and reserve
4. M16A2 easy to operate plus with burst you were almost certain to hit a target without a lot of acquisition time, M249 really liked except the range kept catching fire in the winter(dry grass), M203 easy to shoot and hit targets. I'm a lefty and even I could qualify expert without any special mods(just apply windage and send them down range) as you can see they were all rifle class especially the saw. Not sure why they choose me, since I drove or operated equipment most of the time. They were fun to shoot though.

Was Assigned to one of the primary training bases in Europe with lots of ranges. Qualified on many others including:
M60 (accurate, but problematic probably due to age), M72(law), AT4 and M67 (not sure why we still had these)
Also qualified on the G3(would really need to work on cheek weld), MG3 (would not want to be at the other end) and a Walther P1(which I didn't like)

2. Branch of the military

Army, National Guard, Army Reserve

3. years served. (and maybe any wars you may have fought in)

1967-1970 Active Duty, Vietnam, Germany

1980-present National Guard and Army Reserve about 2 years active duty in there to various places.

4. firearm/firearms you were issued and what your personal opinion of the weapon was/is now.

M14- good weapon, heavy to carry but does it's job well, throw away the selector switches as you can't hit anything full auto
M16- did what I was told to do and it always worked for me
M2 carbine- has it's place, I would prefer it over a pistol
M3 greasegun- good for close in stuff but no accuracy for any distance
M60- heavy to lug around but just what the doctor ordered when you want to put lead on the target fast
1911- good weapon that's why I still have one
M107 gun- just what you wanted for range but not accurate
M101 howitzer- good for responsive fire support and volume of fire
M110 howtizer- what you really want in jam, maybe the most accurate artillery piece the Army ever had.
M79/M203- prefer the 79 as it seems more natural to shoot fast but the 203 gives you better backup firepower (1911 vs M16)
M9- good weapon and still have one

4. M4, M16, M249. The M16 is a big rifle with a small punch. The M4 I like. At least it's small. M249 was cool with me (no problems) but I only had one for a few months and never in combat. I have seen them have "problems". To sum it up though I will put this quote by a guy in my unit out there: "I shot a lot of (EXPLITIVE DELETED) and I always had to shoot 'em more than once".

M16A2 and A3 - Works as advertised
M203 - I shot expert with it. Fun to shoot, bulky to carry.
M1911A1 - Had a great one in Germany, accurate as all hell.
M9 - Blahh
M60 - Take a great German design and fugly it up.
M2 - Deliver the hurt
M72- Serious Paintballs.
M240 - Meh.
M249 - Okay, but finicky
M68 - 105mm on the M1 - second most fun you can have with your clothes on.
M256 - 120mm on the M1A1 - The most fun you can have with your clothes on.
M109- Cramped and loud
M198 - Lots o' fun. I was Number 3 man.

Also got my silver Schützenschnur with the G3, P7, and the MG3.

m4, saw, 240,

I have full confidence in the m4, my m4 and i run it well i have spent alot of time, and money out of my pocket to learn to fight and run an ar, and it has paid off.

the 240 is an awesome weapon and i can't say enough great things about it.

the saw imho and in my experiences... when it work it works, otherwise not so much.

silver dollar,

the winchester model 12 was discontinued from use in the military in 1967, so how did you use one in Desert Storm (clarification please)? Also, I never saw a captain (navy O6) or a colonel carrying anything more than an m9 or an m4a3 during my time in the service.

I shot allot of different firearms. Favorite was 109A2 Howitzer.

When I visited Aberdeen Proving Grounds over winter break, I saw a late-'80s remotely-operated explosive ordnance disposal "robot," and it primary armament was an upside-down Winchester model 12. It might have been FBI property, though--I think it was being used under their auspices.

most of the robots I saw in service either had the 500 or 870 shotty or that new benelli or the full auto (can't remember who makes them) that is clip or drum fed.

I've been in the Army just over 5 years now with two deployments, both to the same 3rd world sh*thole, low level war zone. Got a 3rd deployment coming up, this time to a different 3rd world sh*thole and not so low level war zone.

The only guns I've actually been issued were the M16A2 (when I was in a REMF unit in Germany) and the M4A1. The M4A1 is a lot nicer since they gave me the Elcan SpecterDR along with it. I've also used the Aimpoint and EOTech. I have no complaints with the M4A1 other than it can be high maintenance. The last range I went to I fired around 1200 rounds on Day 1, gave it a quickie clean, re-oiled, and fired 1800 rounds on Day 2. I had exactly 1 jam out of that; the one jam was due to a faulty mag, not the M4's fault. Course, I spent most of the following day cleaning the gun. I don't have any experience with the rifle in sandy conditions, so I can't speak to it's function in said environment.

I've also carried the M9 on occasion while deployed and have fired the M249, M240, M2, Mk19, the shotgun (not sure which one, I know almost nothing about shotguns), ummm, think that's it. All the complaints I've heard directed against the M9/Beretta 92FS were about the 115 grain FMJ 9x19mm round itself. That would be my only complaint with it as well; I've never had a M9 or my Beretta 92FS not go bang.

I've issued myself a Sig 1911, Beretta 92FS, M1 Garand, and a M1A. Prefer the M1A and 1911 personally.

3) Just over 6 years now. Haven't deployed yet.
4) I qualify on the M-16A2. The ones they have us qualify on are much like alot of the range rental guns: loose and beat up. I've had a couple of them go burst on me when they were on semi. Most of the problems seem attributed to old, worn out magazines as opposed to the much maligned DI system...but then again I own an AR, so I might be a little biased :D I also haven't deployed, and I don't do what alot of the Army guys do, so I don't have the depth of experience they have with it.
