I had a Five Seven for a while. Wanted one when they were not available for civilians. When they were, I eventually got one because I loved the neck down cartridge it shot, and that there were 20 of them in the magazine.

I had it for a few years, but the cost of the ammo was quite high, so I didn't shoot it much. . . . and when I did, I was never all that thrilled with the recoil impulse or the target afterwards [decent groups but tiny holes].

A while back I picked up a CZ P-09 and eventually got a Cajun Gun Works hammer for it. From the factory, it holds about as much as the Five Seven, but is MUCH more fun to shoot. Nice recoil, capable of one ragged hole, and fits my hand better than the Five Seven ever did. Ammo is far cheaper as well.

So any "regret" on selling the Five Seven was much more comforted by the very fine pistol that CZ sells. I would recommend one! :D

Has anyone else had a pistol that they "just had to have", but when the new wore off . . . .or something better came along, you sold it?

I've heard lots of people say that about the Five-Seven. The recoil impulse and ergonomics are supposedly rather odd.

I've never sold a pistol, but I have sold a rifle, a WASR 10/63 underfolder. The underfolding stock proved a lot more impractical than I expected, and it was about this time that I decided I didn't have much use for any rifle that I couldn't easily scope. So it got sold and the money was spent on a sporterized German Mauser.

Well, I pick up my CZ97 on Friday. We'll see if that spurs me to sell a gun in return. Doubt it, but frankly, the CZ's are the best kept secret in the gun world. They are great guns.

I have a CZ75B and I started looking for a new handgun for trail riding on my dual sport motorcycle. After looking at many handguns I finally decided to buy a CZ P09. I paid $550 and walked out with one in FDE and night sights. It's my new favorite gun. CZs are definitely hidden gems in the shooting world.

And I think that is the main part of this video. Not so much that I sold a pistol that I didn't really feel comfortable with, but that the CZ holds nearly as much, shoots better, has a better recoil impulse, and nice trigger making it have a greater potential for accuracy. My P-09 is definitely my favorite pistol and that's why I'm less "regretful" for selling the Five Seven. :)

Do you regret the new safety arrangement? It is one area I don't think the five-seven gets nearly enough praise for. They do have an odd impulse for folks who didn't cut their teeth on various magnums (I only shot 357 and Tokarev prior, so I was used to the noise and sharpish recoil impulse)

I was fine with the safety location on the Five Seven. On the P-09, I don't use the safety much because mostly it goes to the range with me. It isn't carried on me.

I seldom carry cocked and locked but I converted mine to safety only. I'm not a fan of that style decocker and it's now the same manual of arms as my CZ75B

I love my 09...it's been a great gun so far. So great I picked up another CZ today in the form of a 75B.

I like the decocker for my 09 but don't mind the safety on the 75.

I had to guns like that: an HK P9S and an HK P7. While both had interesting design features and were very well built neither of them felt all that comfortable in my hand when I shot them. The P9S felt somewhat blocky in the grip compared to like a Colt Commander and the DA trigger was a bit of a reach with my smaller than usual hand. With the P7 I just couldn't get use to the squeeze-cocking mechanism and with the shape of the grip frame.

Fivetwoseven, I did the same thing. Actually, if they had an option of making it a SAO, I would do it. But the DA trigger pull is pretty good.

Bannock, thanks for the input. A cool gun . . . that doesn't feel right . . . isn't really worth keeping.
