caliber and number has extreme little to do with hardware and strategy, and everything to do with personality and environment
part threat factor, part fear factor, defense vs. offense mindset
(even though none of us much likes to admit that our own mindset is sometimes more offense weighted than defense weighted)
me, if I hear gun shots at the mall, I hunker down and look for cover
the gun does not come out unless I see an overt and unavoidable threat coming at me/mine
some others might "go for it"
no one else can determine what is best or right for you
very few things in this world are as personal as personal defense
so long as you give careful consideration to to own choices, the legal and moral implications, and take full responsibility for your own actions, no one else can tell you that you are doing it "wrong" and ought to do it their way instead
my own hardware varies according to time and place and circumstance, but most often is on the lower end of the power scale, and I never wear but one at a time
