I saw a really nice S&W Model 60 .357, 3 inch barrel with adjustable sights...it has 2 sets of grips 1-set rubber and 1-set rosewood...the piece looks to be about 95-98%. The asking price is $409.00...That seems a little high to me

Local gunshop has them new for $440. Don't know if the sights were adjustable though.

Bought a used .357 model 60, like new in the box, recently from a private party for $325.00. Figured that I saved about $50.00 over local dealer prices. I also bought a like new model 649 .357 on the internet recently for $340.00. To me, $409.00 would be a little high.

Remember thats the asking price.

Go there near the last day of the month and offer cash at $325

Can't hurt. Walk away if he won't settle at $350 or less.

Half of the fun is shopping:D

One of the chain gun stores recently had the 60 on sale for $419.99. $409 even w/ other grips is high.

Is it really a 60? I never knew 60's were available w/ adjustable sights...maybe a 66?

Found it - - -

- - -In Supica & Nahas, Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 2nd ed., p. 180.

Model 60-10, product code 102430. Adj sight, full underlug 3" bbl. (Same in 2-1/8 bbl is the mod 60-9.) Floating, frame-mounted firing pin with flat face hammer, 24.5 oz weight, standard with synthetic stocks.

I've always thought this model would make a primo trail gun-- compact, pretty concealable. Handles a variety of loads, from bird shot to light target to +P .38, with (barely) enough weight to handle full .357 loads. Not BIG bear defense, but pretty good for most other types of defense, and an excellent foraging piece.

If I didn't already have that particular niche filled, I'd follow Coltdriver's advice, and try to deal on it.

Good luck to you.

Johnny
