What would be a fair price to ask for a used S&W model 642 Airweight, in like new condition, with box? It has been fired less than 50 rounds.

Yesterday I bought a new 442, $400 tax included. I could have had the 642 sittin next to it for same price. I was told by dealer these two guns are S&W's hottest sellers. As a result they're currently discounted to dealers. If you look at Gunbroker you see new 642's for "buy it now" for as low as $340. Of course you gotta add shipping and FFL to that. A used 642, $325-$350. On the other hand. I bought a 640, and a .042 for $300 each in the last year. Both are like new. I'd like a Centennial .32 mag. but they're way outta line price wise.

It depends on where you live and what the going prices are for a new one in your area. Where I live, new 642's can be had for $349 from one dealer during his current sale but typically never over $399. I also know dealers that ask $450 for them. I would say a like new 642 should sell for $300 to $350, once again depending upon the current going rate in your area.

I paid $330 for a new 642-2 last October. Another dealer at the same show was selling them with an asking price of $339.

S&W lowered the price on this model, which is probably going to drive used prices down a bit.

I purchased my 642 on sale in november for $315. Normal price was $345, and the going rate at shops around me is $400-450. I havnt seen too many used 642's around here, I think everyone that has one, is holding on to it. They are sweet little guns, and this one is my first of probally many revolvers and j-frames

I bought a brand new one the day before Christmas for $359 +tax.

Bought one on gunbroker new for $300 about 2 months ago. Cost me about $350 total (gun+shipping+transfer fee). Couldn't find one cheaper anywhere else.
