Just bear with me a little bit. I've heard a lot of things about RG revolvers on the site, and people have called them the "Quintessential Saturday Night Special". What would the modern day, still being produced version of this be? Not that I would be interested in buying one...

There are no revolvers that quite compare to RG's anymore. The Comanche line is probably the lowest quality available. They might not be pretty or function properly but they are probably safe to fire when they eventually go bang...
The Rough Rider SA revolvers also come to mind but the people I know who own one seem pretty happy with it. Not a Ruger but apparently good enough for a tackle box.

There are quite a few semi SNS still available though, Lorcin, Cobra, Jennings and some will nominate Hi Point but they seem to be getting mixed reviews from actual owners.
