More .380s

The P3AT is about as small as it gets for a center fire cartridge pistol.

Guess you've never seen a Baby Browning in .25acp. And, yes...it's a semi-auto. ;)

PM9, for me, carries just fine in jeans or Dockers type slacks for work. Never a problem.

One of the first "rules" of Concealed Carry is realizing you will have to change your lifestyle, part of this includes understanding you should dress to your weapon. The PM9 will fit in your pockets, you might have to buy new pants but you could do that if you wanted to. I carry a PM45 in my pocket everyday, I had to change my dress to do this, I now wear the Carhart Carpenter pants I used to hate, I had to do this in order to carry the gun I had selected in the manner I selected.

The .380's do fit into the market, there are many people who would rather be (IMO) under powered than change their attire, but it is a true saying 'A .380 in my pocket is better than a .45 on my nightstand.'

My two cents, You should select a weapon and buy your wardrobe to fit your gun, some people are unwilling to do that and for them the mouse guns are better than nothing, but I refuse to be one of those people.
You have to wear looser fitting clothing when you conceal carry. Wearing spandex is not conducive to CCW.

I personally like loose fitting jeans as they are more comfortable. The P3AT is about as small as it gets for a center fire cartridge pistol.

It'll fit in mine but I don't wear emo jeans
The problem I honestly have is that I have fairly large thighs. I have always had the problem that the waist will fit fine but the legs will be tight. If I go for the ultra monster relaxed version the legs get roomy but they look dumb in the legs for being as baggy as they are and since I have no butt, even with a belt tight, they always ride down until I look ridiculous. So I go with something that I can fit a larger handgun in the pocket but live with looking bad and having the jeans sag/fall down, or I live with either pocket carry with a .380 or going one size up in the waist and wearing IWB, which again starts to get a bit into baggy butt look and without an amazing belt things start to sag. Pick what you want but before you cast your opinion as the golden rule realize that some other people have tried multiple things and have weighed out all the pros and cons.

I think its a bit humorous as to what all people want to shove down their pants pockets. In Ohio we are required to have the handgun in a holster. I would love to see the setups you guys are using on some of these guns. Even my work slacks, which are Dockers, won't hold a cell phone (envy2) and an ipod touch together comfortably and without printing. By the time you put a holster around even the smallest of 9mm its like a balloon in my pocket. Any pictures of your pocket 9mm or larger auto or .38 special or bigger revolver with holster both in and out of your pocket?

Another question. How fast can you draw your handgun from the pocket out of the holster? Do you think you would be better off with an IWB holster? Even if I managed to fit something larger in a pocket I can't see pulling even the smallest of 9mms out of my front pocket with any speed compared to an IWB holster. I'm all for carrying larger handguns than a .380, I just can't see doing so from a pocket, at least any pocket on a pair of pants that fits me.

I have a P3AT and carry it when traveling on my motorcycles. For any other day if I need a subcompact I carry the Kahr PM9. If I do want to carry a .380 I go back to my original subcompacts the Colt Mustang, or Government .380. The Kahr gets the most use, but I still love my little Colts. They are reliable, accurate for their intended range and fit my hand well. They are also nice and thin. The Kahr has been very reliable, the DAO trigger is superb and it's nice having the 9mm over the .380. Besides, it is as small, or smaller than many .380 offerings on the market, both past and present. Given the choice the more powerful caliber gets the nod.

There are all kinds of pocket holsters out there. Leather, nylon, kydex and other synthetic nylon hybrids like the highly recommended Desantis Nemesis. I like the leather holsters from JS Holsters. Like he says... Not pretty, but they're cheap and they really do work. With your body type, I'd be looking at IWB set ups, though. And, pocket holsters are not hard to draw from at all. In fact, a lot of the time, they're the fastest thing out there if you have your hands in your pockets walking across a parking lot at night or something. Hand's already on the gun. Here's two of my setups. Kahr PM9 and Kel-Tec P3AT.

I run into the problem that the jeans that fit are tight enough it takes a while to get even a phone out. They aren't something I am crazy about pocket carry with in the front pockets. I have a rear pocket holster for an LCP/P38T. I find it the easiest for me to draw from if I have to go from a pocket. IWB is ideal though for me. Much more so than any pocket holster. The smaller 9mm seem to carry real well on a quality IWB if I have a quality belt to go with them, though I haven't tried them all.

If you have a hard time getting a cell phone out of your pocket... Your jeans are WAY too tight. I can't even see how wearing those would be comfortable.

I'm not saying it takes 30 seconds to get a phone out but it certainly isn't fast enough when every fraction counts and not near as quick as many of the IWB holsters I have tried.

You guys can have your newfangled plastic pocket 380's. For me, 380 developement stopped with John Browning in 1910:

I have it in my belt right now.

The new Walther PK380 is an interesting addition to the 9mmK line.

In a semi-related fashion, I was cruising through WallyWorld on ammo patrol tonight and spotted a box of 50 Winchester 9mm personal protection rounds. While I was buying it, I asked the guy behind the counter if he had any .380 stashed away. "Where were you a few days ago?" he asked. "We got a case in, and it sat here for three or four days before someone came in and finally bought." When I expressed surprise that the it could sit around that long, he shrugged and said, "I think folks have pretty much given up on .380 these days."

I don't think that last part is true, but it's an interesting tale nonetheless as folks around the country continue to clammor for the stuff.

WOW someone shares my sentiments exactly, I've often wondered how people can conceal a P11 in their front pocket. I guess I'm to pudgy for that,
Mike

I can draw an LCP from my pocket pretty quick from a pocket holster. It's not tight in my pocket and it always puts the grip right in the same spot. There's no clothing to push aside to get to it either. Also, you might be able to have your hand in your pocket gripping the gun to begin with if you suspect that you might need to draw your gun in the first place....if the situation allows for it. That way you are one step ahead from the get go.

I own a Kahr P380

Great gun, easy to conceal, very light weight, very accurate for size. You actually forget you are carrying the gun is so light weight. I bought the gun for my wife and she is very comfortable with the gun and recoil. My primary carry is my Kahr PM9.

hard to choose

Last I looked I had about 15 .380s, with the Colt Govt being the largest.

My favorites are still these old Llamas from the 1940s. 1911 in miniature, more so than anything else made before or since, and quality guns.

Just got a Sig P238, looking forward to trying it out. I like the SAO and the night sights. I am also going to look at a Kahr and possibly the new Diamondback.
My daily carry is still a LCP for now.

Okay, I'll stick with my reliable "newfangled" plastic .380...that cost a whopping $250. How hard/expensive would that larger, heavier Browning be to replace if you had it confiscated a self-defense shooting and never got it back? Or it gets stolen?

I have it in my belt right now.

And we have ours in our POCKETS. ;)

Anyone else have a problem with some semi-autos getting the mag catch depressed while in a pocket holster? I had to discontinue pocket carry for some guns because of that. An auto with a bottom mag catch seems to do better than a mag release you sit on............

The only problem I had was with a Kel-Tec P3AT. If you don't "baby" the PLASTIC magazine catch when inserting the STEEL magazines, it will wear over time and if you so much as look at it wrong, pop! There drops the mag... If that's the problem (you have a Kel-Tec), I'll go further into how to fix this...

Had it not been for the ammo availability problem for my LCP I would have never purchased the Ruger LCR. Really enjoy this little package.

I have both, I chose the LCP and my wife took the LCR-LG. I Have to agree with the crowd, I don't need a $400 plus .380. I paid $300 for a NIB LCP with a 100 rounds of JHP from my local gun shop. It is appearent that the ammo supplies are not distributed equally across the states or there is not an equal demand. In my area we are presently enjoying an abundance of all types of ammo on the dealer's shelves. I just purchased .38 special, .38+P, .380 and .40 cal both in JHP and FMJ.
